Can I stream the Steam Deck to higher resolution devices?
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 comes with a touchscreen display with a resolution of 2560x1600.

Can I use the native 2560x1600 resolution instead of 1280x800 to stream?

This way I can avoid purchasing a docking station.

Steam Deck supports output of up to 4K/120hz so I don't see why not.

Although I don't see the point. S7 isn't exactly a flagship phone, like an S9 or later is. The Deck screen would probably look just as good in the end.

I'm Sorry!

I mean Samsung Galaxy TAB S7, I forgot to type TAB. sorry...

If I use Steam Link without USB to HDMI adapter nor dock station, I guess it only 800p video will be streamed.

Can I ask first of all why you even think this would be a good idea.
The Steam Deck will run the games natively and smoothly and has all the controls right there.
Why would you want to make that experience bad by streaming over to your Phone or Tablet?
If you are worried above screen size, then plug the Deck to an HDTV of some sort. You can't have the Deck output to a Phone or Tablet via a cable, for that the app Steam Link would have to be used. But again I see no point, you'd want to actually play the games from the Deck, not from another device with crappy controls.

Galaxy Tab S7 is basically a Mid-High end tablet, i say Mid High because CPU'wise its slightly weaker than a Galaxy S21 but does exceptionally well in all things.

See how it goes without the Dock and go from there i guess, you may end up having to get it anyway, depending on how much it'll be.. The docks capabilities would be worth having i think though, assuming it isnt half the price of the deck itself.

If they don't try to scalp us, the dock shouldn't be more then $99 USD
15W of power isn't going to give much of a frame rate with an even higher resolution.

This is why they've limited the resolution, and why they've said 30FPS is their floor.
Think I'll just continue to play any Steam game I want on my S20 FE w/ BT game controller

But, through Steam Link, I can still use the Steam Deck controller.

Galaxy Tab S7 has a resolution of 2560x1600 and a refresh rate of 120hz. It supports HDR and Dolby Atmos.

It is my best display device so far.

By the way, I also have a 28-inch monitor with 2560x1440 resolution.

It won't matter. If you stream from the deck, the streaming will simply be upscaled, not true.

Better off just streaming via a real gaming PC and play on a 4K TV or other device such as Laptop or Phone. I used to stream over Internet from gaming PC to my Galaxy S9+ and used BT KB & Mouse. Even games like GTAV were fluid enough to enjoy.

How the OP wants to do ot, you're paying a premium for a device that is only going to output at 800p/30 fps

I hope Steam OS 3.0 can support such a function similar to the second screens of Windows 10.

I choose to believe in FidelityFX Super Resolution. In addition, sometimes we will need a clearer GUI.

My PC is a bit old, and sometimes we will need a clearer GUI.
Here is a real example of the actual Steam Deck interface you will see.

It's slightly off being as though its @ 1200x749

Now to get an idea of perspective, I looked at this image on my 28 inch 4K Monitor, if I resize the image above to around 900p keeping the aspect ratio intact, it's pretty darn close to the image being an actual 7-inches diagonally which basically gives me a real-life example of the Steam Deck screen. Considering this is an updated Steam OS on a newer Linux kernel using a custom BigPictureMode, the GUI looks perfectly fine on that size screen. Keep in mind screen res is not everything on those smaller screens, what plays a bigger role is UI sizing and actual DPI tech specs of the screen. A higher more refined DPI can make smaller lower res screens look fairly decent overall.

What might hurt some peoples eyes with strain though is the fact that you will be launching full scale PC games on the Steam Deck, and because of this, some games might look bad or be hard to read some stuff due to the GUI in-game being so small due to the 7 inch screen. We will have to see once more hands on reviews have been done and see how Steam Deck performs and what it actually looks like when you run games on it but then output the image to a 1080p or 2160p HDMI based Display.

With Mobile Devices running mobile versions of games you usually wouldn't have this type of GUI, tiny text issues because those games were designed from the ground-up with small screens in mind from the start.
