antimalware service executable using RAM

Antimalware service executable is always using 200-300 mb of ram. Please help.

Easy ! Its nothing . On my PC , it tends to take 300-600MB ! I installed Avast and AV app need of memory dropped to 200MB . But i had to troubleshoot an issue and decided to uninstall Avast , No , the culprit was not Avast . I didnt find time to reinstall Avast . But since I play nothing that demamanding , i am in no hurry . Once I need more RAM , i ll kick out Defender immediatly .

how much ram do you have in your pc? usually 200-300 mb are nearly nothing. i have 16 gb ram. that is when 300 mb dont matter being in use.

16gb too but a lot of people says it only uses over 25mb when not doing scan

you mean i should install an external antivirus?? and btw yes it is a good idea because windows defender is not that good

i wouldnt mind. if your pc is running well for office and gaming. make sure, that your antivirus software is updated frequently and then it is alright...imho.

edit: since i bought an antivirus software, i feel better. they are not that expensive and have bonus functions that are useful. i paid 15€ for norton at amazon germany...a special offer. normally 25€

GodKid6097 , never seen Defender taking less than 100MB . it starts at 100MB , later on 200MB , then 300 and ,,, not long aafter - climbing to 600MB . wow . i need another AV , taking less memory with an option to completely turn it off without staying resident in memory . One can trigger virus scan manually any time .

Services are often running in the background, if they're running they'll use RAM. If you have strong opinions about how much RAM it's using, uninstall it and get something different. Or see if you can disable the background service if you're convinced the RAM usage isn't worth the benefit.

Unless your system is sub 4GB, a few hundred MB for important software isn't anything to fuss over. And I would just say get more RAM.

yeah I bought a few days ago bitdefender

i know bitdefender. iti s a huge software. i beleive it is for everything you may want from a security software the best. it was too much for me. i want it easy as can be and at the moment i am happy with norton. it has an own search engine for www and good antivirus function. the other functions i dont need. i hope you are happy with your bitdefender. anyhow its all the same. i cant say.

Dont click anywhere you dont know and you wont need any AV .active/resident Just a good firewaall and AV scan on user demand .

A lot of users preach this. The problem is human beings are very fallible and even if you say, "I almost never make mistakes." It's just another way to say, "I make mistakes." And any security scheme that relies on the user to always do the right thing is going to be pretty bottom of the barrel on actually being secure.

After all it's why businesses can't operate that way and be considered secure. And individual users don't have some sort of advantage.

Dont get me wrong ! If the PC is strong along with a lot of RAM , install AV - the best choice !
