Steam Deck "Free-Sync" or "G-Sync" support?
Really hoping the built in display will support one or the other being a mobile device

with the amd igpu its possible, but it wont be able to hold over 60fps in games anyway
and remote play capture is only 60fps
so it would be pointless if it supports it

Free-Sync maybe......how good it'd be will depend on the game and settings.

G-Sync = definitely no because it has a AMD GPU not a Nvidia one

I am unsure if Linux can do FreeSync over a USB hub. It can do it via Displayport and since very recently also over HDMI.

Do be warned, enabling this is quite a little adventure.

Free-sync being for the built-in screen to eliminate screen tearing with vsync on and to have a smooth experience when frames dip

That would be the point of having free-sync when frames dip below 60 to retain a smooth experience with vsync and freesync on, no?

This is how it works with my current gsync setup

Cause first of all, you don't need to maintain a certain FPS # when using FreeSync or GSync.
Yes it can look sluggish below 30 FPS, but it's still a better option to use over VSync.

Anyways I think I will just re-sell the 2 Decks that I'll be getting, after I test-drive them. So far it's looking like complete trash to me. The specs should at least be up there with XBX or PS5 per its pricing. I hear Sony is even going to be bumping up prices on PS5 due to the release of SWITCH w/ OLED

I don't think that's reasonable. There's always been a tradeoff between the hardware and the form factor. IE Laptops are typically more expensive than desktops with an equal amount of power.

Not to mention the PS5 doesn't contain it's own screen. And the controller isn't as complex. And it doesn't have a battery. All of these things are costs that add up. And Valve may not be willing to sell the Steam Deck at a loss like Sony has typically done with its consoles.

I mean you're free to have whatever opinions you want. But when you're complaining it's not a mobile PS5 and isn't sold at a loss, you might not be the target demographic is all.
