Dolphin Emulator: My Nintendo Switch Fight Pad Pro works fine in the menu, but not in-game.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, but I'm at my wits end. I wanted to play Metroid Prime through Dolphin but I wanted to use my Fight Pad Pro for the Gamecube feel (and the FPP is the only USB cable I have that's long enough to reach my PC). The only problem is: no matter what I do, it just will not work in-game. I've tried adding it as a non-Steam game and that allowed me to use it in the configuration menu, but it still won't work in game.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can do this?

We're not really supposed to talk about emulation here, but I usually used the opensource Antimicro mapping utility to map directly to the keyboard if a controller isn't recognized directly.

Of course, the current version hasn't been updated in a long time and the next version is currently linux-only. It might not recognize a Switch controller.

I don't think it will be a problem here considering I own the game.

I have no idea what that is, but I'm doubtful about it. Do you know anything else?

Irrelevant. Talking about emulation in general is explicity forbidden.

Well, dang. Didn't know. But is it still considered piracy if I own the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii?

Maybe they should change this rule, especially since there are emulators being offered on Steam right now and even RetroArch has a store page up and is currently in closed testing (but you can request access on the store-page). Wouldn't that make ANY forum post in those community hubs against the rules? 🤔

Anyways, you can try emulating a XBOX controller and use xinput. You can use tools, like x360ce or xpadder to do this. Or even try Steam's integrated controller support for Switch controllers, if you add it as a non-steam game (which is based on xpadder anyways).

Except I don't have a USB cable long enough to connect to my PC. The FPP is probably my only choice. In hindsight I might have been able to use bluetooth, but it's kinda too late now. I decided that this was too complicated for me so I gave up and uninstalled Dolphin.

What i meant was you use the FPP, but use the tools mentioned to make it being treated by programs like an XBOX controller. You basically emulate an XBOX controller using the Switch FPP. This would increase compatibility with other programs and games.

Oh. Probably jumped the gun a bit there. Oh well, it was causing performance issues anyway. Thanks for your help, though. I'll come back to this thread if I ever feel like giving Dolphin another shot.

What does anything in dolphin have to do with steam? dolphins controls should all be set up through dolphin and your OS

Dolphin wouldn't detect the controller I wanted to use, and someone online suggested adding it as a non-Steam game as Steam as Nintendo Controller support.

I've already uninstalled Dolphin however, so this thread is all but pointless now.
