More ram stats to watch for with microchip shortage and cheaper manufacturing 1Rx8 vs slower 1Rx16 ram
1Rx16 might be notably (20% max?) slower than 1Rx8 ram.

Yes this is normal ever seen a system with 512GB of RAM start up? More RAM you pack into a board the more POST tests each cell has to go through. More RAM actually slows your boot time especially in the case of RDIMMS and ECC

Ah the old remove the number of writable arrays trick. Not really an issue I don't even buy full kitted out laptops anymore. I just buy a ASUS or Gigabyte laptop then stick my own HyperX Impact in it or which ever high performance SODIMM I prefer. It's cheaper doing this too. Same with just leaving out high performance SSDs, I prefer my 970 or 960 M.2 drive from samsung with Samsung Magician support than the low end samsung drive they often give you.

On Modern PCs the RAM tests and input detection that prolong a system POST can be disabled. To be honest you only need that if there is a problem, or when stuff is new and you're un-sure of the stability of whatever you added, such as new or more RAM for example.
