Gsync is 100% an overrated gimmick.(personal opinion) I had Gsync on my ultra wide and my current 2 monitors, 1 has Gsync one doesnt(because I misread the model number)
Acer XB273GX is 240hz HDR-400 Gsync
Acer XB273 X is 240hz 400nit no Gsync
I notice no tearing on either, but then I am older, so maybe I dont know what to look for, but yes, mouse feels smoother on a monitor, that is why I am thinking a nice 4k monitor for my rts / rpg addiction
I do think 4k would fare better on a larger monitor than 27". At that size you may as well stick to 1440 and save yourself the extra performance requirements of 4k. Like get two 1440's instead.
32" would be a minimum for 4k, imo.
Gsync/freesync only really matters if you're getting drops in fps. if it's relatively stable fps it's less noticable to me. That kinda plays with the higher hz for me to. If it was a 60hz display I'm more likely to notice tearing with V-Sync off in which case Gsync/free would be welcomed. Where as on a high hz display even with 60 fps I'm less likely to notice tears so Gsync/Freesync not so important. Provided fps is relatively stable.
Just another example of differing opinions and interpretations experience. The people talking audio Headphones, headsets and mic also means near nothing to me. I can barely tell the difference between a 1,000 pair of headphones and a 100-150 gaming headset. Hearing not as good now I'm 40+ with Tinnitus
upto 24" for 1080p
27" for 1440p
32" minimum for 4k
I had a 3440x1440 ultrawide and while it was very crisp, it wasnt nearly as "wow" factoring as 4k is for me. I already own the 2 27 inch monitors that are my every day work horses for work to gaming and I like them. I just was curious and I think the 4k ty looks the best so far, but its too big for my desk and how I use my space.

So a 4k TV pretty much limits me to it as a monitor at 43 inches and even thought its an arm and a half away, just feels sluggish. A 27 inch 4k would replace the monitor on the left, so I could rpg and enjoy single player gaming and the one on the right would work well for mulltiplayer and not drive my OCD nuts with mismatched sizes
1080p vs 1440p wasnt as impressive as 1080p to 4k or even 1440p to 4k. So for me, 1440p isnt really even a consideration.
Yeah I heard this before, everybody said dont get 1080p at 27 inches. My opinion? Nothing wrong with it, and cant tell the difference between the 23 inch 1080p I had.
good if you sit 1ft from the display, but still too small for arms length imho
43in 4k, is close to a 21.5in 1080p in dpi
if it was not a tv it would make a great monitor
Last 3 monitors I had were Acers, and while their support isnt great, I never had issues and Acer hardware is solid. I stick with what works.
But I need to 100% upgrade my gtx 1080ti So I am gonna stick with the current, but I WANT 4k, after using the TV, it is clear, 4k is the way to game.
32 inch would be great, but for my desk it would be a little too big. I had a 35 inch 3440x1440. I sold it for a nice profit during the pandemic, but it was too big for my desk and hard to dual monitor.
27inch x2 is perfect with room left for accessories, xbox or my cat lol
Anyway, the main point I was trying to make is not that you won't notice ANY clarity difference between a 1440 27" and a 4k 27", I just wouldn't find it personally worth the hardware increase/cost upkeep for that screen size, even as someone who isn't all that picky re: hz, fps, etc.
But it's all a personal preference thing. I just love sitting close to large screens myself, is all, so I "need" high quality 4k TV for that reason alone.
This is when you get a bigger desk.

I had an L shape desk but it made my room Cluttered. If you click my profile, thats my old setup. It was cool as I was younger but as I get older less is more seems to be a true statement. Very Nice TV, but those wires, I would go nuts. I kinda want to come over and fix that for you lol
https://imgur.com/a/yRNieDS
was my setup that drove me nuts
So I got better with cable management
https://imgur.com/a/6XEigc2
but that was so crowded my room felt too small and cluttered
So I tried the tv at 1080p with a 3440x1440 and a 1080p monitor
https://imgur.com/a/MC7rcUU
but OCD and clutter drove me nuts
So I tried a 35 inch a 27 inch and a 24 inch and went crazy
https://imgur.com/a/th5dCEo
So I tried using my lazy boy chair
https://imgur.com/a/zkX8RoY
wires everywhere
https://imgur.com/a/MICt0of
When 1 desk wasnt enough, I tried 2 desks
https://imgur.com/a/o0LRshS
Decided to build a desk stand for even more room
https://imgur.com/a/r8cEuVe
After years of OCD and indecision, I bought this desk and put it together
https://imgur.com/a/fI7Vkgm
And this is now my less is more build
https://imgur.com/a/zswapQT
This was before I sold the ultrawide

I like the current setup. But as you can see, this is a monthly thing for me. Only way to truely fix my issue would be to sell my house and get a bigger place or knock down a wall. Both seem illogical, so I think a 27 inch 4k monitor might be my best option something next year

That was when I was building my current rig a while back and bought this expensive KVM switch so old PC could share monitors. Trying to wire it all up was a nightmare, needed so many wires and the thing was a piece of expensive troublesome trash to boot. Returned it and decided not to use one. Just put a monitor/cheap KB on the old PC exclusively instead.
Anyway ... most of the wires in my original pic are the peripherals, like external drive and mobile USB/controller charging. Nothing I can do about that outside of removing them constantly when not using, which I am far too lazy to do. The controller on my PC I use plugged in, not wireless. The console is behind the TV and I just wrap the wire/controller around in front while charging for ease of access. I don't like wireless KB/M.
I did forget to drill a wire hole in the middle of the L section so some monitor/speaker wires are still flopping down that side. But as you can see by the other "clutter", while I try to be relatively tidy, I'm not exactly OCD about it. When I'm staring at the TV I don't notice anyway. The inside of my PC is fairly tidy tho.
I wasn't being serious re: bigger desk, just a joke. I know many don't have the room or desire for huge desk setups. I do have a small day type bed I use as a couch at times, but most of the room space has no other "duty"/purpose but being a PC-cave, so to speak. Hubby has his own office/cave.
When it comes to "aging", I also have come to less is more and every year I toss more and more things away ... except in regards to my PC/media stuff. That just gets worse, probably because I'm retired and have nothing better to do - especially during the past covid year.
Anyway ... good luck and hope you find some arrangement you enjoy, whatever it ends up being.

I bought 2 sets of these. Changed my life lol
But no I agree, a bigger desk would help, and I wanted one, but I am struggling between my desire to turn my man cave into a clone of a NASA command center. the bridge of a star destroyer and something that doesnt look like I am going through a mid life crisis :D
And thanks, talking pc shop always seems to help, no matter what, somebody always adds something to the topic worth considering. Stay safe.
