Apparently AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution living up to the hype
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFZAo6xItOI

I have one game that uses it, specifically terminator resistance.
No quality difference I can notice. I had all standard settings maxed out.
Went from about 85 to 115 fps for the ultra FSR setting.
I have a GTX 1080 ti with a 3440x1440p monitor.

Apparently is is very straight forward to implement, that is for an experienced developer.

I hope it is in many other games soon.

I don't see much point in it working for GPUs older than GTX 900 series; as they lack VRAM to run many of todays more demanding games. Unless maybe you happen to have a GTX 780 6GB, which is on-par with GTX 970 performance, but with more VRAM. But the 780 GPUs also use approx twice the TDP as a GTX 970, so there is that also.
I can't agree because GPUs and iGPUs which have around 1-2 GB RAM, you can give you a massive boost

I tried it with Evil Genuis 2. It really does seem like a nice little upscaling feature if you play at a lower resolution. But the loss in detail is noticeable. My quick impression with a game where a lot of small details are on screen is that it introduces a lot of shimmering and weird distortion on anything else than Ultra High. But its definitely better than the standard resolution scaling.
I would have to see how it looks on non-top-down games like third-person.
And since i have worked quiet a lot with Median, Gaussian and Unsharp Mask filters on images i do see potential in this. Capcom for example did a great job upscaling the lower resolution backgrounds for the Resident Evil HD Remake.

To get better performance, you need to either use fsr or reduce other game options. Either choice will reduce quality, but fsr is the lesser evil.

Apparently this has been attempted, and works, on Haswell IGPs (not sure if it's natively or needed work), but that's going off of a reddit claim and screenshot, so take it for what it's worth.

I'm not particularly interested in DLSS/FSR methods myself (yet, anyway), since I'm real partial to quality and dislike scaling except for when I absolutely have to (read as, older titles that don't work as well as higher resolutions for one reason or another), but I'm still amazed and glad at what they are doing, because you have the choice to not use it, but the choice to take the tradeoff if you so choose.

For Intel GPUs its only really going to be relevant on ones such as Intel UHD 6xx series; as older ones really are not capable of running most games. But even the Intel UHD 6xx series can run games such as Skyrim SE or GTAV without much of any issues. Just not at the higher visuals.

I tested Riftbreaker with an RX 480 on a 4k 60hz television.

Static images look good, but it has problems with motion unless VSync is enabled. Motion is smooth with VSync on.

4k "performance mode" looks better than 1080p native. FPS is not as good as 1080p native, but is better than 1440p native.

1440p native has higher fps than 4k quality. I prefer 1440p native because I don't need VSync and input lag is lower on my television at that resolution. But not all televisions accept 1440p.

Another downside to VSync is it will drop to 30fps if your card can't maintain close to 60 fps. This defeats the purpose of using FSR. But in games where your card can keep up, FRS can be a visual improvement compared to 1080p on a 4k television.
