i'm looking for a bluetooth 5.0 dongle that isn't limited to just audio transmission. stuff like sending/receiving files, connecting to a printer, keyboard and mouse, screen mirroring...
5.0 is capable of short range high speed transmissions and more spyware advertising crap.
Higher number does not mean better. 4.0/4.1 is all you need.
what do you mean with the spyware advertising crap?
If don't actually require 5.0, aa decent dongle with 4.2 should be fine.
5.0 will not make a difference on older devices that only require up to 4.2 such as game controllers
Which devices were you looking to use via BT?
Was able to get ASUS USB-BT500 Bluetooth so I think I might be fine?
BT 4/4.2 will be fine for controllers, VR or otherwise. My Asus BT400 stays below 10 ms when using 2 DS4's. Only spike is when connecting the second controller but once connected it's returns to <10ms
Finally someone who knows what they are saying
Just one reason my BT is rarely turned on. Not just those that do all the spying either
Samsung Smart connect/Smart Things app allows you to show Samsung TV screen on your phone and your phones screen on a Samsung TV. Was updated over a year ago and now require BT permission and for it to be turned on. Lies. TV doesn't even have BT so it's obviously not a requirement to do something it could do before without it.
Only logical reason to want the permission on is to collect data from every BT device it comes into contact with. Why I got rid of my Smart/Spy Samsung TV and just use my PC monitor now. Not like I watched Live TV anyway.
Most modern devices will screw you over by putting up artificial barries. "Wanna watch TV? Better connect me to the Wi-Fi and make an account or I am not going to work. Enjoy the ads I show whenever you change channel." As complex and relatively powerful computers get cheaper this stuff will only get worse.
Avoid smart crap like the plague.
