Recently i changed my PSU to a Corsair RM850x Due to other issues with my PSU
When i got this new one installed it went fine for 4 days playing Witcher 3 now suddenly my PC Shuts off Again. The issue happened on my last PSU which was a CV650 at the time but people told me it wasnt strong enough to handle my i9-10900k and RTX 3080 so i brought the RM850x instead but the issues are still happening and it happens mostly when playing Witcher 3 and Alt-Tabbing out the game to browse the Internet etc...

My Corsair PSU seems to work fine. But i had an older one fail one me. But it lasted 9 years.
Not saying that their PSU's can't break. Sometimes you'll get unlucky of receing bad unit. If this keeps happening, just send it back and exchange it with a working one.

one thing im going to try first is use 2 8 Pin PCIe Cables for my 3080. because i heard it isnt a good idea to daisy chain on a 3080. So using 2 PCIe Cables to the 3080 might solve the problem. ill try it and test and see how it goes. if not ill buy a new PSU.
Right dasy chain is a terrible idea if your 3080 has like most 2 pin about 375w. This means you pull 300w over a single 8pin cable which is rated for 150w. Most quality cables and connectors can do more then 150w but twice as much is a lot. I saw a lot of reddit post from people with melted cables/or burned pc's.

Igorslab did a good test for FE model which has only 2 8pin. They pulled 700w (350w each 8pin) and cables got 280°C hot! Extrem dangerous and you do nearly the same with 300w over 1 8pin.
@dOBER , i dont believe this . 8 pin power connector can deliver up to 150W . 2 x 8 pin power connectors give 300W . PCI-E slot - 75W . So , a card with 2x 8 pin power connectors shouldnr t draw more than 375W

PSU cables are often labelled with their rated power.

It does not (except spikes which a higher then max tdp). I didn say anything else. Avg 3080 with 2x8pin has 375w powerlimit. This means 2x150w 8pin and 75w pcie. OP daisy chains both 8 pin which means he draws 300w over a single 8pin and 75w over pcie. This is bad!

I draw up 200w x 3 8pin which is 600w + 70w pcie. Thats 50w above rated 150w. If i touch my cables they dont even get warm which means its fine. 300w over a single cable might be way too much.

Now looking at my AX1600i's spec sheet something about the 3090 makes me uncomfortable.... And looking into a crystal ball, I am thinking with the increasing power demands of GPUs we are going to need a new power standard to cope...

Heh thats why you never see people running RTX A100 SXM models because they require a special power delivery backplane running at an eyewatering 400W per SXM module.

@dOBER , you literally abuse/mistreat your PSU , asking for a blast !

Ok i regret it but please explain this.

Btw my psu says 12v rail 100 amps 1200w. I draw 670w from my psu over 12v rail. How do i abuse my psu and ask for a blast?

Right ive set it up now running 2 6+2 Pin Connectors to the 2 8 Pins on the GPU. Gonna test and see how it goes.

I would suggest to re-install the video drivers. Goole DDU. Set it to safe mode. Check that windows don't auto update the drivers. And reboot the system in safe mode. Wipe drivers. And re-install them from scratch, and test again.

Another user having issues with Corsair power supplies. I warned YOU.

its literally a new power supply that 80+ Gold Rated. its pretty clear you dont know what your talking about.
New doesn't mean good. 80 PLUS Gold is nothing more than an energy efficiency standard.

A power supply must do several things. Yes it must be able to output the rated power, but also with low enough ripple to not cause malfunction of the powered equipment. A PSU must also be able to respond to sudden changes in load without dropouts; when your hardware boosts its clock speed this can result in a spike in power demand.

so in other words my RM850x that i only got and installed last week is pretty much crap then?
I think its unlikely you are getting the same fault from two different power supplies
one after the other.

Maybe play around and test some other display drivers.
