first, update bios
boot to bios and reset bios to defaults, then set ram to xmp profile and disable cpu c states if overclocking (to test/verify the oc is stable)
then update drivers, get the latest from the mobo mfg site/model
test with prime95 small fft to see max cpu temps
then with gpuz render test (click the ? under gpu mfg, amd/intel/nvidia) and test for 15+ minutes
*those 2 at the same time will stress the psu/mobo to the cpu/gpu or temp limits
When i run 3DMark and Unigene Valley Benchmarks on my GPU for 20+ Minutes its fine and GPU sits at 77c Underload. and my CPU is around 55-60c underload. My PC Shuts Down while playing Witcher 3 and Alt-Tabbing out the game. i tested again just now and Alt-Tabbed and the game literally closed itself. so i checked my Event Viewer and said i had a nvlddmkm driver crash event id 13.
download the latest gpu driver, then use ddu in safe mode, after rebooting install the driver and reboot again
My GPU Driver is on the latest 471.68 and my PC shutdown when i left Witcher 3 Running in the background while reading something on Google Chrome.
Latest is NOT always best. Just because companies like to say use the latest driver, make sure you update and stuff does not mean it's the best. Often the case new drivers implement new bugs.
Only reason to update GPU drivers are
1. Security fixes
2. Tailored to a new game.....provided you have the game
3. Bug fixes..... provided you suffer from the bug and want it fixed
4. new features......features you want
Unless you meet criteria 1-4 above there really is no need to be on the latest driver.
If you're suffering bugs that are likely driver related try using DDU to wipe the drivers in safe mode then reinstall the same driver.....could have installed poorly first time.
If issue persists wipe again and try an older version. Preferably the last version you had before the issue began
nope its plugged in to a surge protector.
Try plugging it into a wall. Sound to me like your PSU's are going bad and maybe surge protector is causing it somehow?. Just a guess obviously but I would still try it.
i literally got my new RM850x installed a week ago.
I figured something like that since you said "...recently changed my PSU..."
its a hard issue to diagnose. ive tried resetting my bios turning on C States and Intel SpeedStep and left some stuff on auto and default. my CPU and Temps arnt even that high eithe. About 75c on the GPU underload at 4K max settings. and CPU around 50 - 60c on a H100I Liquid Cooler.
The rig needs a lot of power .it s clear the old PSU sometimes couldnt deliver it
My Old CV650 Bronze Unit was underpowered for my system so i replaced it with a Corsair RM850x PSU and im playing at 4K 60hz.
its literally a new power supply that 80+ Gold Rated. its pretty clear you dont know what your talking about.
