How to set disc autoplay for an emulator? PCSX2
Hello! So i started buying old PS2 discs to play on a new disc drive i bought. Is there a way I can set the disc to automatically open PCSX2 to with the playstation 2 game launch intro or play iso and bin files on a disc automatically when inserted? Game is marvel vs capcom 2.

If its able to do that it would be in the settings
Or setting the autoplay to run the emu on disk loading

Not sure if its even able to autoplay
Should probably search for it, if theres a way to do it someone probably put it out there by now.

Years ago Sony was making **** storm when people made emulators, and even backing up their game disks so they don't wear out, and Sony couldn't win agasint them, Nintendo was going after sites that were hosting ROMs.

Short of it comapines were on edge of people talking about emulators, because if someone were to use platform to share files, or links to priate content, of course that would be a major red flag, and can get person a warning, or even temp ban. When more people became aware what emulators are, and how they worked, they ease a little, but still on edge about them because of Sony, and Nintendo basically as I wouldn't put anything pass them looking to sue any company they could if it was caught supporting pirating their IP's really.

That why we only limit ourselves to talk about things, if one want to talk about thing beyond that have to take that somewhere else as this isn't the place.

probably not a better time to crack down on it again since covid left a lot of people broke and with less money to spend, and gpu prices being so high people can't play the newer hotter stuff anymore.
yes, but no point in it

devs wont get a dime by others selling used gear anyway
and its not possible to find a new ps2/snes/sms or games anywhere that they would possibly make some money on the sale

in the long run it would just be hurting their own future sales by going after those who are trying to emulate their owned games that they have a borked system for

I once talked about emulators and got banned for it. I didn't even mention anything about downloading illegall roms, or ISO's.

As long as you use the original Media its not illegall.
Of course. Bootlegs wouldnt look good in a phyiscal collection lol Just a matter of not being tempted by illegal roms because some old games ive seen on amazon up to $80. Just stuck with McC2 and Syphon Filter. And thanks!

Thanks everyone for your advice, you've been really helpful. Since games don't get me excited like they used I've gone backwards through time to relive my memories with new technology

Is there a way to get Windows Autoplay to detect a PS2 disc as opposed to a generic data disc which Windows will generally detect a PlayStation disc as, i.e. could Windows be taught to detect the disc's bootloader and offer specific autoplay options?

no, as the ps2 disc is not recognized by windows as a data/audio disc
just run pcsx2 and mount the disc
or create a disc iso/bin with winiso or similar to mount the disc image, and create a shortcut on the desktop/start menu instead of inserting a disc

I've put both PS1 and PS2 discs in my drive. They both have a data track and filesystem. There are specific files as well as specific sectors in the disc that identify them as PlayStation.

For both PS1 and PS2 discs there is a file called SYSTEM.CNF in the root directory that tells the BIOS where to find the boot image, and how to load it properly.

Emulators with a HLE BIOS (as opposed to a ripped BIOS from a real system) know how to parse the configuration file and load the boot image.

Nope, you have to manually make a script for this that running in background, depending how made script, possible manually putting disk name into list, or telling it to search for said file type, so when detected your PS2 disk it auto launches your emulator.
