MangoHUD. It's an open alternative for MSI Afterburner with a focus on Linux, but there's a Windows port.

I use the amd driver overlay.
This works for both cpu and gpu.
But i don't know if it works for the cpu if you use an intel and i also don't know if nvidia has such a feature, but it would suprise me if they don't have something like this.

I have an intel cpu and an amd gpu. Will it work?
in your case , as many others say , an option is Afterburner but i like
GPU-Z for GPUs and Real Temp for Intel CPUs . They dont need to start on Windows startup and wouldnt consume CPU time

AMD GPU huh. Try the AMD Link mobile app. You can see real-time stats on your phone, leaving your actual monitor free and clear.

MSI AB + RivaTuner together.
Then go to the MSI AB settings, change the skin to a Dragon skin that shows GPU Voltage. Enable all the unlocks in settings. Then go to the Monitoring tab and click which ones you want as OSD to get them to display in an overlay. Enable and configure the actual overlay via RivaTuner after applying settings changes.

@Frank , there is a lot of info , Some times one needs an exact , fast and out of experience answer . Google provides a lot but only a part of that helps . That s why forums usually help , beside the fact there is fun and pleasure in communicating with other people .

well I prefer duckduckgo.
But i think people ask on steam forums to ask if there is any other software, except for msi, or the one that ships with your drivers.

get a 2nd display and use hwmonitor
it also logs min/max so even without a 2nd display you know the max temps they get to
This is exactly what I do. It works wonderfully.

Alt+R with Geforce experience while gaming will bring up a monitor window on any foreground screen. Alt + R to close.

No not the correct hardware for the software. It needs Nvidia hardware it wont work with AMD. Just posting the info for nvidia users looking in.

Don't use amd overlay and don't install GFE. MSI AB + RTSS is the best by far
