Besides, you are rich, why not just buy it and stop with the bs already its been years.
Dumbest part is if you'd just signed up with evga you'd if had a card at msrp months ago.
You went from a 7900 GT to a 8800 GT to a GTX 560 Ti to a GTX 970.
I went from a 6800 GS (AGP) to a 8800 GT to a GTX 560 Ti to a GTX 1060 (this was originally going to be a GTX 970 even but it had coil whine!). There was an 8600 GTS OC and a GTX 650 in there but they were either short term or emergency replacements for a failure so I sort of set them aside on my proper upgrade timeline.
Ignoring the first, we are practically identical! We're both even sticking to old IPS 60 Hz screens as they work well for us (but yours is 1440p and mine is 1200p).
Now, I don't know your financial situation, but given you've apparently been taking the Steam forums around the bush for a few years from what a few others around here say, and given how long you've stuck with what you have (which I approve of by the way!), you don't seem to be a regular upgrader on the high end. Which, that's fine... but why are you considering RTX 3070s of any flavor, the WORST proposition for someone like you and I, if you refuse to spend on overpriced things in todays market? Fine choice to make, but the worst product to look at as a solution to it. You'll ease your difficulties by looking at more sensible options for you.
Just, please, get an RTX 3060 Ti or if you ARE going to splurge get an RTX 3080 but that's probably more than is worth it for someone like us. Else, keep using your GTX 970 (nothing wrong with this either) and hope next generation is better, like I am doing, but stop dangling ideas you know you won't follow through on. I feel emotionally invested at this point and we demand closure haha!
(It will be a mere fan replacement, won't it?)
Don't waste your time or money on any of the other RTX 30 series.
I wanted to say don't doubt yourself but I realize this is most likely instead serious doubt that an upgrade will happen on Shredder's part after watching it not happen for... how long has it been?
At first I felt bad Shredder was being teased for enjoying an old GPU but now I've gone the other way and see why many of you have lost patience with it.
Two of the worst card options in the stack and the majority tend to agree (with the caveat of having a choice/availability).
The 3070/ti sits at a bad spot for performance and price vs the 3060ti and 3080 while the 3080ti is just daft, if you can afford it, you can easily afford to go all the way and get a 3090, if you can't, you cannot really afford a 3080ti either and should look lower down the stack.
Shredder, just why do you refuse to sign up and queue with evga? You'd get a card after a couple months at msrp and you don't even need to pay for it until your slot comes up and you get about 12 hours to order it or lose the spot.
Though, I understand, actually getting a card would mean you couldn't keep on going as you are used to, but I truly want to know why you don't do it, hell, why didn't you do it a damn year ago or simply order online from outside of Greece?
If you had of abd kept a pre order you would if had a card at msrp for most of the year now.
Disagree.
3070 Ti is barely any better than the 3070 and also uses more power. Just go up to a RTX 3080 for a little more money and a decent amount of performance. Ok jumping to a 3090 is a sizeable price difference so I won't suggest jumping up. I would however say drop down to a 3080 over the Ti and OC it as far as possible
Yes but they do not make the non Ti ones new from factory anymore. Except the 3090.
3070 Ti and 3080 Ti are cheaper and better.
Really? Cause I got a MSI RTX3070 GAMING Z TRIO LHR just over a week ago, 16th Sept, from a retailer that I've been checking stock of daily just like I check the news, email and anything else with my morning coffee.
