MS Edge won't play South Park
Short version:
While using HBO Max on MS Edge, everything plays, except South Park. Why would only one show not work?

Detailed version:
I got an HBO Max subscription a few months ago. I like to put shows on my second monitor while I do work on my PC. South Park, being a show I like and one with a lot of episodes, is good for this. For the first couple of months, everything worked fine, but at some point one episode wouldn't play; which happens on any streaming service from time to time. They eventually worked again after a day or so, but slowly more episodes would not play, and they were not able to be played later.

As of now, while on MS Edge, no episode of South Park will play. The message, “Can't play title. We're having trouble playing this video. Please try again later,” appears on screen. It's only this show though, everything else I click on plays fine.

If I log in on Mozilla, or my phone, an Android, to Chromecast it to my television, everything is fine.

Why would only one show not function on MS Edge? I can understand a particular browser having an issue with an entire streaming service, but only one show? I've not seen that before.

The slow degradation is also very confusing. Why would it work, and then slowly begin not to work? As opposed to either not working from the start, or go from working perfectly to not working at all.

I just watch it on Mozilla now, but why won't it work?

Have you contacted HBO on Max?
Could be issues with internet with Covid19 or some videos may have been pulled off.
Happening a lot these days.

Using anything but Brave or Waterfox or regular Firefox, tweaked and hardened?

Have you tried clearing your browser history/cache?

Never use Edge, it's junk.
Try Chrome or Opera.

I cleared everything as far as I am aware, and not just from recent activity, from everything.

I only use edge for streaming service. It has a couple of features I like that make it very simple to use for that.

Maybe you should also learn other browsers.
There is not a single thing Edge does that others don't. In fact FF and Chrome did everything Edge can do, long before MS even came out with Edge.

afaik since the latest update edge uses chromium ..

edit: *it is based on chromium since january 2020

HDCP is enabled, and both my displays register as HDCP-capable.

Anyone else able to watch South Park, on HBO Max, while on MS Edge?

This sure is a head scratcher. I'll dig around more. If I figure anything out, I'll post it here.

Thanks for those who had ideas. Feel free to post any other ideas. I'm very curious. One show not working has really caught my interest.
