Problem with steam folder on external SSD
Was having some performance issues in a game so I attempted to validate the file's integrity, which I was unable to (it just remained at 0%). I then uninstalled the game from my external SSD (Samsung T7) with the intention of reinstalling it, but whenever i try to install the game, or any other game, it tells me there was an error downloading it, and sources it as the "downloading" folder. upon attempting to open the folder myself, it tells me it is inaccessible due to an I/O error. is my steam folder corrupted and/or is there an easy way to fix this?

I have apparently solved the issue by opening "Computer Management" via the windows search bar, >device manager >Disc drives > (select hard w/ issue) > policies, and from there selecting the "better performance" option

do not install games to external drives

you can move them once they are installed, but external have very low iops which will slow download/installs to a crawl

DO NOT use the performance option for Externals. If the power is cut, data can become corrupt or lost. And always use the EJECT DEVICE option when removing such devices, just to be safe, as it will ensure no writes are taking place and thus be able to safely remove the device from any use just prior to saying "Ready to remove/unplug"

First off, you can't use an external SSD with proper performance unless its running off of USB 3.1 or 3.2. As 3.0 is way too slow, even for SATA HDD. Also external SSDs will never perform as intended like even a cheap SATA SSD would, due to when running things such as Games and the CPU usage is very high, this is greatly going to impact any USB storage reads/writes/iops
