12GB Ram, Should i ?

Currently on 8GB its not bad but recently when it comes to video editing it would just do poorly and some games like Rust,COD:WARZONE and Apex would stutter or just straight up crash.

I can only afford another stick of 4GB ram as of right now.

Having enough RAM (even in a non-optimal configuration) is better than having too little RAM in any configuration.

While people will have heart palpitations over dual channel performance, most of those people aren't familiar with flex mode.

I wouldn't be surprised if AMD had a similar scheme.

If you play RUST, make it 16GB of RAM at the least. That'll make your loading times much, much smaller - the performance will generally flatten out in a good way, and you'll not be stressing the living heck out of your drive.

dual ch for the pair, using that first, and the single dimm in single ch only used when the dual ch kit is full

Always do RAM in even pairs.
If using 8GB, the next logical step is 16GB (2x 8GB)
HyperX Fury RAM is very hard to find anymore though.

More RAM is good, but it will work much much better if you can get another 8GB stick of the same specs (ideally identical stick), since they will work together better.
If you can't get the same stick, put the new one into a different slot pair.

Well, since you have a ZEN processor and not Zen 2, zen 3, the ram support isnt very good , i discovered the same problem with my athlon 3000g. so you are limited to 3200mhz ram i believe, although i may be wrong im pretty sure im right in this , but your biggest problem mixing ram is the timing. if your current ram is CL19 and you buy some CL15 ram, your going to have to loosen the timing of the faster ones to the other ones obviously, and just hope they work togather. Matching pairs of ram is going to be in your favor. Mix matching ram, and having 2 sticks on one channel and 1 stick in the other channel, i dont know how this will work out for you. Im positive you can find a pair of 4gb sticks (8gb kit) for only 30 bucks on ebay, because i was looking the other day. I saw a pair of 4gb sticks (8gbkit) 3200mhz CL15 for only 28.99. look harder for some cheap stuff. Use ebay, buy used if you have to.

1x 8gb should only be around $30 or so though. As 2x 8gb kits can easily be found for under $65

AMD supports flex mode. I'm not arguing against 2x8GB. But 12GB will be fine too and should run in dual channel. And given your current configuration it would be an improvement, despite some people not "liking" it. You'll have to decide if you want to wait and save up for 8GB, or if you need 4GB right now.
