The Windows Store is the best place to download a new application or update the existing ones. Users quite often receive the Error code 0x803F8001 while trying to update the apps visiting Microsoft Store. In case, you too are unable to download the updates of any application, follow this troubleshooting guide in detail.
Among possible reasons that cause this error, enabled Windows Security or Proxy server, unnecessary caches inside Store are some prime culprits. If the app (in concern) doesn’t identify the location of your system may also lead to the Error code 0x803F8001. Disable Antivirus, Re-configure proxy, Reset Windows Store, Run DISM, setup language & region settings correctly are suitable workarounds to deal with app updating issues.
Fix: Windows 10 Store Error code 0x803F8001
To fix the Windows Store Error 0x803F8001, use the following workarounds –
1} Retry the update after uninstalling and re-installing the app
Many users solve this error while downloading the update by just uninstalling and fresh install the Store app. To perform this task, do the right click on the program which you are trying to update and select the Uninstall option. be faster to reinstall the OS it will take 1 hr keep your files and folders
and I got more updates to day run windows update it might fix the problem
(April 2004) or (Oct 2009)
Any fixes related to updating a store app are not applicable as far as I know.
I just tried the the Windows Store reset, maybe that will work. Ideally I would like to delete Windows store completely from my computer but unfortunately I do not believe that is an option.
I did download that update.
Thank you for that link OLDMAN there are a number of options on there and hopefully one of them will work.
The only update I got today was the usual Security update.
Because I thought it was directly related to the console. If it is not what is it for and why is it essential for the system?
After resetting Windows Store I no longer get the message.
Don't ask me why Microsoft gave it an Xbox association or name.
If you don't want to use Xbox Gamebar (an easy way to record/capture game play and such) then just go to settings and turn off all the features. Don't remove it from the OS. It's best to not use Gamebar anyways and good to disable it. As its better to use other overlays such as MSI Afterburner + RTSS, which Gamebar can conflict with. It can also conflict with many other overlays, such as Steam or Uplay overlays or even OBS Studio or SLOBS
Now you can go uninstall the Xbox app that the OS preinstalls, that's something different and is just a pre-installed bundled app that if not needed, ok, uninstall that, no harm there.
As far as updating to latest OS version, many don't know their Win10 is broken due to being out of date because Windows Updates for that particular PC might not be feeding you the info about new versions.
To check OS version & build
press WINKEY+R
type WINVER
click OK
Then check that against what Google says is the latest public stable Win10 version, easily found using the search term "windows updates history"
I usually check for updates manually two or three times a week. I will check my version as you suggested. Good to know about Gamebar.
Just checked and my version is 20h2 which after googling it seems to be the latest update.
