PC issue, please help!
i7 6700k @4.0
GTX1070 OC
DDR4 2133 16GB Ram
C drive 480GB SSD OS installed
D drive 4TB HDD Storage
Windows 10 64bit

I have this built since 2017. About a month ago, the windows suddenly couldn't detective my D drive. So I reboot my pc, then a blue screen with a "critical process error" message appeared. At this point, I couldn't load into the windows anymore. I went to the BIOS and saw my D drive still not appearing. So I assumed my motherboard was having an issue and ordered a replacement.

After I got my new MOBO, I completely format my C drive and install a new copy of windows. My PC worked, and I could see both C and D drive. I installed a few games, and there doesn't seem to have any problem. So I stopped trying to figure out why my PC wasn't working in the first place.

Today in the early morning, I was playing some game, no problem. But at night, after I got home, my PC started doing this random freeze up. When it freezes, it makes this static buzz noise. I couldn't ctrl+alt+del to call out the task manager. The only thing I could do is force restart by holding the power button.

Now, this is where things get a little interesting. Whenever my PC freeze and I try to force restart, the first time when it reboots back into windows, my monitor gets no signal. I have to either do two force restart in a row or wait for a few minutes before reboot. It's like I can't reboot too fast.

This problem is bizarre, but I have tried:
1) Optimize both C and D from the disk manager
2) do virus and malware scan with the latest update
3) Check my bios; everything seems normal CPU running low temp at 27-32 C
4) none of my programs has any update today between morning and night

I really can't think of any way to diagnose this problem. If anyone is a PC expert, please help.

Sometimes, a crash like that, that causes the speaker to keep making its last sound, is driver related.

Make sure you updated ALL the latest drivers for your new MoBo off the manufacturers website.

Chipset, audio, etc.

What are your system specs.

The original problem, with the HDD not showing up, could've been a corrupted OS, HDD failure, broken SATA/power cables or connectors. When something's not working, first thing you should do is check if it's plugged in. How you'd jump to changing the MB, I don't know.

For the latest one, I'd do a fresh install of all drivers, not just update.
Random freezing and lack of video signal at start-up can be a dying graphics card. Fingers crossed it's just the drivers.

Forgot to ask...How's your PSU doing?

My apology I didn't include this part. But when my PC first had issue, I did switch out spare SATA cable as well change SATA slot position. I recall D drive showed up in 1 of the config. I also have defected headphone jack in back of MOBO, that's why I decided to replace it even tho I wasn't 100% confirm it was broken. Maybe if I did fresh install I could have fix it, but it seem like at least 1 of the SATA port was not working.

Later I use SATA/USB cconverter to test both my C and D, my other computer can read the files inside.

As for 2nd problem(today) I am having issue. My driver were up to date for most part since a month ago I re-built it. Nividia released new driver 2 weeks ago before Cyberpunk 2077 and I have that.

I don't think the issue is related to the software part, since in the morning everything was fine. But all of sudden at night I am having issue. Something happened during the few hours of period between morning and night but there was NO change in my software. I didn't install new software and my windows didn't install new update.

Anyhow, my PC is now working correctly again(cross finger), and I am not sure why. I literally didn't do anything, just rebooting a few times and shut it off for 2-3 hours. I hope the problem doesn't occur again.

My PSU is EVGA 850 CQ, I don't think I use full power for my rig.

I would:

- check your windows 10 system logs[www.partitionwizard.com] to see if you have any excessive disk errors (I also suspect that HDD is dying and causing your crashes)

- get the Sandisk Dashboard[kb.sandisk.com] will check the SSD health status and apply firmware upgrades (all the good stuff)

- get CrystalDiskInfo[crystalmark.info] which you can check the HDD health via SMART disk info screen[crystalmark.info]
