Controller Connected But Witcher 3 only reacts to keyboard and mouse

Hello guys,

So I have been playing Witcher 3 for a while now via wireless controller and it had always worked out splendidly until today.
Now Witcher 3 seems to detect only my keyboard and not my controller anymore. Pressing the home button on the controller still gives me access to various controler settings there, but any other buttons I press give away no reaction from the game. I am always adviced by the game to use keyboard keys instead.

What I have been trying so far to no avail : swap USB port for my wireless transitter, restart the game as well as my computer. Batteries are fine, as the home button still works and the lightinng around the home button indicates no issues.

Please help me, I really need my daily dosis of Witcher 3 .Unfortunately I only have Witcher 3 installed ,so I can't test the controller on other games.

steam -> library -> select game -> controller config
or right click on game -> properties -> make sure controller input mapping is forced on

In Witcher 3 you must enable the controller within its game options if I'm not mistaken. It's not a game that likes it when you use both.

hey i cant find "controller input mapping " and where do I enable the controller in witcher game options? I still cant play :-(
edit : on the witcher cover there is a small icon at the bottom right depicting a controller , when iI hover over it it says controller supported .....So why it still doesnt work?

Go configure the controller in steam big picture mode first.

on the properties page
'steam input per0-game setting (requires restart of game)
should be default if default is on, or forced on, so steam forwards controllers to the game
