Performance differences between 1 and 3 monitors?
as the title says, Is it normal for there to be a huge difference in performance when switching from one monitor to three? 1920x1080 to 5760x1080 to be specific.

I don't really know how it works, but I would have thought everything needing to be rendered would be the same regardless, more monitors just adds more visible range.. right? or does it now mean 3x the rendering work to be done?

Reason I'm asking is because I have a 980 Ti, and I'm getting <30fps on LOW on Cyberpunk2077 with 3 screens, I just breifly switched to 1 monitor and now I'm getting 30-50fps on ULTRA with just one monitor. I've never noticed this much difference with other games.. does this sound right? I know there's debate about the games optimization but it just seems odd to me how much difference this change makes that doesn't happen in other games. I just want more FPS and detail on 3 monitors.

They're all in the GPU. It's been fine on all other games like GTA V and AC:Black Flag. It's just Cyberpunk that struggles.

demanding games will take a greater performance hit when running on multiple displays or at a higher res

rx 580 is weaker than a 1660, the min recomended for 1080p with games near max on a single 1080p display

just set the games to run on the primary display, not spanned or eyefinity

Ahh that sucks, I was hoping it was an optimisation issue that would get fixed soon. Thanks anyway mate!

Yeah, Cyberpunk is really a hardware slammer like The Witcher 3 was when it came out.

With a 3900X and 2080 Ti at 1080p on the ultra preset, the average is in the 90s. 70s with the RTX Ultra preset, DLSS on balanced.

Ofcourse, they gpu needs to show way more pixels and therefor needs to work harder

Well you're running 75% of 4K... on an aging midrange card. All the performance demands of $K don't come in that last 25%.
