is a rtx 2060 laptop be worth it upgrade?
with a 2nd stimulus check, when it comes

would a rtx 2060 be a big enough upgrade from a gtx 1660ti

Even a more current intel cpu or other companies cpu? I'm not 100% sure

cuz i do want better performance and heat control
like better performance for gaming and vr gaming

like some upgrade within $1200 from my acer predator helios 300 ph215-52

is it big enough of an upgrade to be worth it???

A desktop build will be better for the price .

I don't mean to be rude, but expecting a 2nd stimulus check is a bad idea.

But I hear no complaints about rtx 2060 on laptop from my friends.

depends on the laptop

gpu performance can very wildly depending on the laptops power delivery and cooling for the gpu

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2060-Mobile-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1660-Ti-Mobile/m701609vsm776281

the average mobile 1660ti is better than many mobile 2060

laptop rtx gpus are weaker than the desktop ones with the same name

Not a worthy upgrade imo. Performance gain for the price is not a good one.

Depends how you look at the situation. As I see it for 1200 you should get a lot more than that. The difference between 1660ti and 2060 is not much, even in best scenario. I'd save money and wait for next gen laptop GPUs for real performance gain. But that's just me.

2060 is alright, but you've already 1660ti. Paying 1200 just for 2060 doesn't really give you much for the money.

You already have i7-9750H, which a fine pair with 1660ti. Can't see any upgrade worth of 1200 from there either. But like said, that's just my viewpoint.

i updated from the 1060 tot he 2060 and I like it.
My wife bought a comparable laptop with a 1060 and I can't tell that mine is any better than hers -- at least I haven't noticed a difference.
On my old 1060, I generally couldn't get more than 60 fps on the internal screen.
On my 2060, I'm regularly much better than that.
I think the bottleneck was the screen, though, not the card. I saw a lot better performance through hdmi than I did on the internal screen on my old laptop.
