HELP! PC crashes when playing games

The pc that I've had and used for a couple of years suddenly started crashing while playing almost every single game. Small games like among us or Genshin impact were alright, but big games like rainbow six siege, squad, PUBG, etc. The game would just crash during or straight after loading into a game.

My specs:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
1683 MHz (1683 MHz)

Intel Core i7-8700
3200 MHz

Windows 10 64-bit
16384 MB
3090.53 GB Storage

Cooler Master MWE 80Plus White 750W PSU


I'm really not sure if this is a hardware issue or software issue. I've tried fixes like uninstalling and installing the GPU driver with a DDU and making sure everything is up to date. Do I need a new graphics card? It'll be lovely if someone could point me in the right direction thank you.

Was gonna say the same thing. If it ain't temps then I'd look at the psu. Temps are easy enough to figure out quick. After that maybe grab a new psu

There is a note on the page -
"MWE V2 units have high ripple issues on very low load also resulting in increased coil whine, fix pending."

High ripple can cause a gpu to crash or the psu to switch off. Risk is increased by overclocking. Symptom would be switching off about 30 seconds after game starts.

To test, underclock or underpower the gpu in msi afterburner to about 80% of normal.

While loading into and crashing rainbow six siege and PUBG, the GPU temperature reached a minimum of 49 degrees and maximum of 71 degrees (i have no idea if thats bad or not) as shown by CPUID hardware monitor. And in terms of the PSU i've actually swapped and tested with an old but functional thermaltake Smart DPS G 650W Gold PSU but the games still kept crashing. Another weird thing i found was that, upon launching gta5 that i run on the rockstar launcher, the game ran fine and had steady fps. But any other games dont and i have no idea what is going on

Those temps are normal. If it was me and I had another psu as you do, I'd bust down the build and put it back together. Also have you checked your outlet? Are you in a surge protector?

What about the CPU and motherboard temps? And check the fan speeds. Have you vacuumed out the dust around the fans?

The pc is plugged directly into the wall and the fans seems to be working fine. I've tried clearing out some dust and even pulled apart the graphics card to clean it but the issue is still there.

The most recent change would be me adding a M.2 SSD to it. But that was a couple weeks ago and the issue only started happening 2 days ago.
