Just installed dual channel RAM - is this frequency off?
The ram I just installed is corsair vengeance lpx, DDR4. I took out the single stick and replaced it in the correct slots with the 2 corsair sticks.

Oddly, my ram speed still says 1500ish MHz : https://valid.x86.fr/wppq2y As seen here, is this normal? Also, here's a speccy link http://speccy.piriform.com/results/OoXYdmXrv4PtmlVakKYw800

Also if the timings are off, please let me know. I don't know much about ram.

Yes it is.I thought you bought 3200mhz 16-18-18-36. You should enable xmp profile in bios settings

Every once and awhile, you see threads like this pop up.

DDR = Double data rate

You're seeing the effective speed. Times that value by two.

doesnt matter in this case because its still off. it should show 1600mhz 16-18-18-36 not 1497mhz 22-21-21-50 for CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 if xmp is enabled.

Still matters, so he doesn't keep expecting that number to match.

And he did not mention what kind of memory he had, either.

I don't really care about XMP as long as I'm benefiting from dual channel memory. Would it be worth the hassle to go into bios and enable it, for 200 mhz?

tou go into the memory screen and pick the right profile from a dropdown, there is no hassle

holy i never saw an awnser like this for xmp oO wait you paid for it but you dont care ? your timings and mhz are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off but you care only for dual channel ? ok but it looks like you still missed your goal because you used bank slot 1 and 2 which is not dual channel mode!

use bank slot A2 and B2 for dual channel

btw there is no hassle. it should be only 5 click to enable xmp.

How are my timings messed up if I used slots A2 and B2? I can show you a picture of it that I did so.

use the same colored slots farthest away from the cpu

the timings may be defaults
check cpuz and spd tab to see the xmp profiles for each dimm
make sure both dimms (select dimm slot near the top left of the page) have the same profile for freq, voltage and timings

Here is a link to the ram I bought: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-2pk-x-8gb-3-2-ghz-ddr4-dram-desktop-memory-kit-black/4895506.p?skuId=4895506

And here is an image of how its installed onto the mobo: https://imgur.com/a9b4K7P

I'm pretty sure its done correctly. Is it so damaging that my timings are "off" that I will damage the computer, or is the timing off because I'm not overclocking the ram to its advertised value? I get that I can be getting more power, but for now if it doesn't break anything and is still adequate, whats the big deal? Again - is the timing off due to something faulty with the ram or PC itself, or is there a compatibility issue?

boot to bios look at the oc page and enable docp

Nothing is daming anything if use your ram like its now is. My point was you paid for 3200 cl16 ram but you refuse to press a single button in bios and use your paid product. I mean if you had to mess around with timings and manual oc i can understand why you would not do that but you paid for finish oc profile on your ram.

It takes you about 10 seconds and creats zero "hassle"

1. Press enf while boot
2. Change docp to profile 1

3. F10 save and exit

No matter how bad bad your computer knowledge is, these 3 steps could do my 3 years old son without any problems.
