I'd only seen them on TVs before, never on a monitor. I don't think they're that much of a problem, if they are, just get a replacement.
Yep, my current acer predator has one. It's a decent panel. First dead pixel I've had across a dozen LCDs. I've mostly developed blindness to it. One pixel out of 3,686,400 pixels isn't the worst thing in the world.
Like anything, it's luck of the draw. The universe isn't perfect, even when it comes to quality products.
Thankfully, it's in the upper left 5% to 10% of the display so it's not near the center, and I don't notice it unless I'm trying to look for it. Multiple, fully dead pixels scattered around more towards the center would bother me though. I remember a lot of guarantees from some manufacturers/shippers wouldn't count less than a set amount (like 4 to 8) dead pixels as bad enough to return.
