its a ROG one.
its been happening for a while ever since ambient room temp has been high enough to reach 70c+ when playing certain games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50Bmc9gckt0
I still need help with this since its very easy to get to 70c i can't play a single game even remotely demanding without this happening.
Thus during gaming I manually turn the fan speed of all fans/sync to just under where it sounds noisy (a bit under 50). For some reason this has kept it from becoming loud under gaming stress. I have no idea why it likes to ignore "curve settings" but is fine with manually setting a constant fan speed instead - where manual fan setting is no higher than the max of the curve, anyway.
is this overriding the msi afterburner settings?
I'm not sure how to do anything in bios im always scared of breaking something in there.
Not saying it wouldn't, because I don't know. Am honestly wondering how that works.
^ After a google, maybe that was a typo they made.
it the gpu has a custom bios it may not obey fan settings from software
At 50c you should hit 50%, 70c is ok, at 80c you should hit 100%. the idea is to stop the card from cooking not to try and cool it when it cooks. The gpu is saving itself because AB is not helping.
do you suggest I change the fan to 100% at 80c?
I have never reached 80c so i dont know, highest I got was 72c and I've been following my temps with speccy, hwmonitor and now msi afterburner for a while ever since the revving started.
the temperature stays stable at around 70c with 2200rpm or so thats what it tells me, just i dont know why it does the revving to 3400rpm because it doesnt seem to make a difference on what temp it is reporting, it doesnt go down at all when it revs.
if a gpu fan is stopped, the rest of the fans will ramp up to 100% and not turn down
