Thoughts on my upcoming new pc parts upgrade?
Hi y'all! I've been thinking about upgrading my pc for the first time after 6 years of PC gaming. I decided to go for these pc components (I will be purchasing them on canada computer) :

-AMD Ryzen 5 3400G
-ASRock X570 PHANTOM GAMING 4
-AZZA PSAZ-550W ATX 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified
-Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16

UPDATE BUILD! THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS!
-AMD Ryzen 5 3600/3600X
-Gigabyte B450M DS3H
-be quiet! System Power U9 500W, BN 607, 80 Plus Bronze, Power Supply
-TEAM T-Force VulcanZ 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz CL16 Memory Kit – Red (TLZRD416G3000HC16CDC01)

Keep in mind that I already have a pre-built pc with components that'll keep like the ssd, hdd and my zotac gtx 1050 TI 4gb. Also my budget is 600$ canadians after taxes. Are these good and compatible with each other? I've checked but I just want to confirm that they do and it stresses me out a little bit lol. Also do I need to update my motherboard bios if I have a x570 phantom gaming with the ryzen 5 3400G?

(For people who are interested from my current build this is what i have atm for the upgrade) :

-AMD A10-7800
-8Gb ddr3 1600MHz
-330W PSU brand? Idk some weird ♥♥♥♥
-motherboard : ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. K30BF_M32BF_A_F_K31BF_6 (FM2+ )

Anyways that's all! Thank you for taking your time to read this and answering my questions! If you have any recommendation and changes about my pc upgrade components list, feel free to suggest!

Have a nice day everyone!

the 1050ti is alot stronger than the ryzen vega apu

get a dedicated cpu with for build and use the 1050ti
3600 is a much better cpu

no need for a 5xx board, you can get a b450 will work as good

get a quality psu, not another junk brand
(then you can upgrade the gpu to a 1660s or better without worrying about it)

enough room in the budget for a 500g nvme ssd
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/tLfYdD

will be a huge upgrade from the fm apu

Yes the 3600 was my first go to option but it'll bottleneck with my gtx 1050ti and I dont want want that (I dont plan to upgrade my GPU in the next 3 years or so). That's why I go with the ryzen 5 3400g and for the b450m ds3h will it need a bios update with the ryzen I choose? Also thanks for the PSU suggestion I'll take this one instead of the AZZA. I didn't know it was a junk brand.

Memory Express in Canada might have some combo deals?

Which x570 phantom gaming mainboard model? Read the bios updates notes it might require steps and reading warnings.

You can also check out pcpartpicker for prices just change the region to Canada.

There's a ryzen 5 3600x combo deal ($520+shipping+taxes) at memory express but it looks sold out.

This is the motherboard I'm planning to buy. I don't want to spend extra cash for a flash drive just to update the bios. I read the x570 phantom gaming doesnt need to and is ready to go after I built the PC.

A few things to go over:

1. You're better off with a 2600 or 3600 over the 3400G any day because it's a weak APU designed to run the integrated graphics and not a decent dedicated video card. You will get guaranteed performance over the 3400G with the 1050 Ti and it won't bottleneck the CPU because of how low end the 1050 Ti is. A 3600 will handle up to a 2080 Ti just fine in the majority of titles.

2. Avoid ASRock like the plague for AM4 motherboards; in recent months there was a slight problem that came to light where motherboard sensors for power were misreporting, which can literally result in the motherboard using too much or too little power and ultimately results in worse thermals or performance, and ASRock was among the WORST for this. Stick to ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte. For low budget, I'd suggest a Gigabyte B550M-DS3H, but something decent is ASUS' TUF GAMING X570-PLUS or MSI's X570 Tomahawk. (Anything more expensive than the 200$ range for X570 is complete overkill)

3. Your RAM is standard and will be perfectly okay.

4. Avoid AZZA PSUs, they're a cheap niche brand with low quality power supplies. Stick to 80+ Bronze or better units from be quiet!, Corsair, EVGA, FSP Group, and SeaSonic. I'd suggest getting a 650W PSU for the GPU upgrade potential, as you can run a 2080 Ti (or 3070) on a 650W PSU but I doubt either would like running on a 550W.

bottleneck does not work like most people think it works... if you get something modern any cpu works with any gpu just fine BUT why would you combine 1000€ hardware with 50€ hardware anyways?

tight budget and I'm pretty fine with my gtx 1050 TI. I considered the ryzen 3600 or even 3600x because it was on sale for the same price as the 3600 but after some researches people said that the 3600 is too powerful for the 1050 ti and it'll bottleneck.

Might help but make sure they know your in Canada and research the parts for reliability.

Bottleneck depends on the game and monitor resolution. The 5-3600x is a better choice. The 3400g is already about outdated. It would be an upgrade from your current cpu but doesn't seem that great a choice given current hardware.

Gotcha thanks for the info! But if I choose the ryzen 5 2600, I'll have to upgrade my GPU too right? Which I can't really do it since I'm on a tight budget so I really don't know what to do... Also is the b450m ds3h still a good option instead of the x570?

Listen to what is being said here, i have currently got the 3400g in my setup whilst i wait for my 3080 and 5800x, it is only a quad core and whilst it is fine to run the intergrated graphics it is not the best to run a dedicated card with, you always want your CPU to be the best it can be that way you will get the best out of whatever card you put in there, if your GPU is at 100% and your CPU is at 50% its no problem, on the other hand if your GPU is at 50% and your CPU is at 100% then you got a problem, get the 3600/3600x it makes much more sense, with the 3400g you are paying more for less performance because there is a GPU side to the Chip that you will not even use.

Very informative, I guess I'll take the 3600 and it'll work better with my GTX 1050 TI if I understood, right?
Grimy_RIck 2020 年 11 月 22 日 上午 11:13
You will not need to upgrade your GPU if you get a better CPU it will run perfectly fine, but it will give you the option if you feel the need, to upgrade your GPU in the near future without needing to upgrade your CPU again as it will already be good enough to handle a much better card.

Very good! Thank you for clarifying the CPU part! It was quite complicated for a few days when I was choosing one but after I heard about the bottleneck I dropped the 3600 but I guess now it's fine and it makes much more sense to have a better CPU than a GPU.

Not so simple, the 3600 is a better CPU, the 3400g may be good enough to get the best from your 1050ti, therfore the 3600 will not give you better ''gaming performance'' but overall it is faster and has more cores so will handle better in general, but as i said above it also gives you a lot more headroom to upgrade in the future, as nines said up to a 2080ti if you please.
