500 GB Samsung 970 EVO temps

So I have windows 10 installed on this ssd and the temperatures average out to 39 C when idle. I've been thinking about getting a heatsink just to drop the temps down a bit, but before I do that I just want to know if those temps are normal for an ssd.

It's normal, and most SSDs have an operating range between 0 and 70 degrees Celsius. Most often, they'll sit somewhere in the middle.

The SSD controller needs to be cooled, the NAND doesn't.

I have mine on the first slot so the one without a heatsink, under heavy load I'm seeing temps around 55-61C. So 39C is very good tbh.
