The i5 10600K seems to top the FPS charts though.
So if you generally plan to game, Intel seems to be the way to go.
This is true. I built my current PC for £800. That gave me a system more powerful than the Xbox One/PS4.
Now, to build a PC that can rival the Xbox Series X/PS5 I would need to spend over £1500
The Xbox One/PS4 were incredibly weak when they launched, but this has proven to be an exception to the rule.
I can get the AMD chip for around £450 whereas I can get an Intel for £400. And Intel is the better gaming CPU...
PC gamer recommend pairing a Gigabyte 2390 Aorus Ultra motherboard with the Intel CPU.
That’s a £250 motherboard though. Seems kinda pricey...
Then that's basically a no brainer. Even if you where to do some workstation type stuff like rendering videos the CPU will more than fine for it because it won't be for that long.
Second, if you don't know neither performance nor cost of the future products (which is true), you cannot make assumptions how much it will cost to build a PC with equivalent performance. Simple as that.
P.S. No one denies PC should cost more than console just because of different sale policy. But difference never was huge.
No one builds a PC if they are bothered about cost VS a console, why even compare to console, just build a PC with specs that you are happy with, and that meet your needs, no need to worry about what a console can do.
I do. I realize that a console will always be cheaper, but I still try to beat them on specs on a 'reasonable' budget.
