DP is definitely the way to go.

Vesa is NOT a cable, It's the mount size for the bracket used on your stand or if you wanna hang your monitor on the wall.

Exsist a cable named vesa display port not is a vesa for stand only.
Ves is in reference to it's mounting on a stand, arm, wall bracket. Not the type of connection.

Yes DP 1.4 can reach 144hz
maybe he got confused with vga cable and vesa wall mount system
Thx for the reply guys :) in any cases exsist a certified vesa cable but idk the difference in displayport. Someone know it?

Stop talking VESA as that references screen mounting. Though i suspect tThe VESA you are talking about is in relation to Video Electronics Standards Association. That's involved in setting the standards for display connections. Not the actual cables themselves. And none are labeled or certified with any reference to VESA.

Cables are sold by the version are suitable for. HDMI 4, HDMI 2.0, DP 1, DP 1.2 or DP 1.4 and so on. So find out what DP verion you need/want and buy it. If you want DP 1.4 buy a DP 1.4. VESA will not be mentioned all you need is the DP 1.4 as that cable should meet the DP 1.4 criteria.
I guess he talks about VESA certified dp cables but for me it looks like they are all VESA certified. At least on amazon nearly every cable is labled with "VESA certified".

Not on Amazon UK. I checked around a dozen earlier and VESA is not mentioned once on the whole product page let alone in the product description.

Any cable that is labelled as DP version X is certified as that version X because it meets the requirements for DP version X. The cable is therefore certified. It just isn't mentioned or on the cables because the fact it is a DP version x is in itself the certification.

OK, they appear if you enter VESA into the search field. Never known anyone to search for VESA specific cables and don't ever remember seeig a VESA certified cable in the description. DP 1.2 cables should meet the criteria for DP 1.2 certification. Same goes for DP 1.4 If they don't meet the criteria then they are not certified.

That aside I already suggested OP gets a DP 1.4 for 144hz. Though without knowing the specs of the monitor and GPU. What version is anyones guess.
if i understand it right vesa labeld monitors are monitors with certified HDR for example 400/600/1000. there are monitors with HDR label which doesnt meet specific criteria
so they dont get vesa certified. Dont know why they label for example dp 1.4 cables with vesa certified because every cable which is 1.4 can do HDR or i am wrong?
Yes the hdr work too maybe payng only a brand for vesa?

With my day, mixing everything up, it's likely me that's wrong. Giving up before I mix something else up :steamsad:
no you are also right if we talk about vesa in terms of mounting tvs or monitors. vesa standard is how the drill holes and how many are set.

but there is a vesa standard when it comes to HDR certification and cables
