I always just ensure everything is on the correct port based on labeling. Because you always want a analog mic on the Mic In and not Line In for example. As Mic In is the only port with any kind of Amp Boost tied to it.
just grab the correct driver from the mobo mfg or oem sites
they often are custom for the board
windows generic driver works, but never for all of the boards specific features
some of those do not include the realtek control panel, that you need to get from the ms store
Its also been for cleaning Audio drivers for some time now.
if using gpus hdmi for sound, or anther device, then it will not use the onboard realtek sound card
