I desperately need great speakers.
I've already posted here with no luck, now I did more research and I'm hoping I'll have more luck. Alright, so, I need great PC speakers with the best sound for the best price, as well as high quality and a good, well-known brand.

I want accurate, balanced and crisp sound overall and I really, really want loud, strong and clean bass, but definitely not boomy and overpowered. How much better would it really be with a subwoofer instead of kevlar woofers in studio monitors? Again, I want to hear that strong bass, I really do, just not boomy or overpowered.

I've been looking at both "computer speakers" and bookshelf speakers / studio monitors, here's what I found:

1) Logitech Z625 - bass is probably the only good thing, at least it seems good, and the price

2) Harman Kardon SoundSticks III - build quality of the satellites seems questionable due to the design, also not sure how good the subwoofer is

3) Bose Companion 50 - too expensive, but other than that, probably the best choice because sound is probably really great, as well as the surround effect thanks to the design of the satellites, also design and build quality and included subwoofer which should be powerful

4) AudioEngine A2+ - would've been perfect for everything except for the lack of a subwoofer; sound, price, design, reputation, size, but they aren't available here in Croatia nor does Amazon ship them here...

5) M-Audio BX5 D3 - they seem nice, kevlar woofers especially, but I don't really know much about them or the brand, also no subwoofer

6) KRK Rokit, whatever model - they look ugly and I've never heard of the brand, otherwise my only problem is the lack of a subwoofer

I could really use some help with finding ideal speakers for an ideal price based on what I said above.

Also, I would order only on Amazon and from Amazon itself to be 100% sure, never from random sellers or pre-owned.

Thanks in advance.

Opprinnelig skrevet av _I_:
cf cone is lighter and stiffer than paper
silicone or rubber surrounds are softer and more flexible than foam

please stop ,you knowledge on the subject is wrong.

CF isn't the best cone material... , just because it is expensive doesn't make it the best option ,most high end manufacturers use CF as a sandwich material to make the cone better and keep it from causing ringing that can be persistent with 100% CF only cones.

and no foam is actually more flexible then a rubber suspension and gives the speaker a better efficiency, also rubber causes sagging over time, which in turn causes the VC to rub against the magnet damaging the VC , causing pre-mature failure to the speaker and cause the speaker to have to be re-coned.

I've got a model very similar to the Logitech Z625 they are really good. I also paired them with a sound card. ASUS Essence STX II 7.1 (small daughter board)

I'm using these for my PC for 6 years:
https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/multimedia-speakers-z213

I know how terrible it might seem as they were like the cheapest Logitech speakers and I'm using them every day, not headphones, but they're actually fine. Not really good, but fine.

For some reason, I never really paid much attention to sound and these did the job just fine, but now I suddenly notice how many problems they have and I want an upgrade as soon as possible.

One of the biggest problems is that bass on these is boosted regardlses of the bass knob, yet bass still sounds so weak, boomy, muddy and so on. It doesn't sound tight, clear and powerful, as it should be. If bass was boosted, but still like what I described in the previous sentence, then fine, but here it's boosted and really weak.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, there was a horrible humming sound coming out of the subwoofer that made me feel... I don't even know which words to pick. Basically, I wished my ears were bleeding instead.

That awfully loud and painful humming sound from the subwoofer comes exactly below 37 Hz in this video.

And at this timestamp, after like 2 seconds, it's there all the time and it literally gives me a headache. Horrible.

The rest of the sound is fine, a bit better than the speakers in my phone, but even those have better stereo separation.

My ears hurt just reading those Z213 specs...

Total watts (RMS): 7 W Subwoofer: 4 W Satellites: 2 x 1.5 W

A step up from the speakers built into monitors, sure - it sounds like the amp or sub got blown out if it's rattling and you did not notice until now

so here is another idea with a more budget-friendly amp and sub selection, but still good as an introduction to component audio

A 3-channel class D amp
TB20A TPA3116D2 2.1 Amplifier (2x50w main, 1x100w sub)[www.amazon.com] <$80

"decent" bookshelf speakers (or get a high-end brand like polk, wharfdale, etc)
Dayton Audio B452 4-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair[www.amazon.com] $35

A passive DIY subwoofer & cabinet
Skar Audio SDR-15 D4 15" Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer[www.amazon.com] $110 (dual-coil 4-ohm bridged series into 8-ohm to match the mains)
Single 15" Vented Subwoofer Stereo Sub Box Ported[www.amazon.com] $60

not bad for ~$285!
