So which RTX 30 series are you thinking about buying?
The 3070 seems amazing, with a reported performance higher than a 2080ti.
The 3080 is almost DOUBLE the 2080ti.
The 3090 needs a nuclear power station to run it!
So I am interested what people's initial thoughts are. Are you thinking about getting one? Which one? :golden:

Feels to me as the gain is from 100w power increase.Lets put 300+ watts on 2080TI and see what happens.Prob smoke show:)

nothing happen or lets say not much @360w compare to other top models. btw many 2080tis uses way more then 300w

None, becuase I made a "forced" generation shift when 20xx series came out and got a 2080 (I have a 2080S, free of charge due to RMA)

So it would be silly to buy a new card, with the most likely 10-15% difference in performance on normale usage on 1440p and only real 40-80% increase in Ray Tracing. I reckon, I might go on the 2nd generation Ampere cards.

If you look at my thread (that started before they were released) you will see new sources as well, that showcase the changes to the cuda cores.. the "are faster than a 2080ti" with the 3080 is not really true, unless you go for pure ray tracing capacity.
.bottom line the 2000 series was a bad buy.reason no.1 ray tracing was
brand new tech "never buy the first release"2 the price because of the new tech
was way over the top.hence if you look at the sales of the 2000 series they were passed
on buy most who saw this coming.the 3000 will blow away the 2000 series in every way
dollar for dollar

Ray Tracing is still new tech, if nobody bought the 20xx series, we would not see tech advances. The gain from 10xx to 20xx was enough to be noticed, but not worth it if you had a 10xx.. I had a 7xx series, thus for me, it was time for an upgrade.. again it really depends on what is cost benefit, if you have 1080p, then these new cards are pointless tbh.. unless you sit on a very very old card.
Thinking 3070. Gonna be a huge upgrade from my 1060.

Girls are better? hahe
Yea I think 3080 would be plenty. I'll spend the extra on a new Samsung 980 PRO SSD
RTX 3090. I have the nuclear power station required.

What programs are you using for you render and are the three 4k monitors any good?

Nice. Seems like a good workstation. What do you use at home for gaming? :gorby:

The one on my profile.
A friend of mine sent me a screenshot of an Ebay page today. Going by description prices were for an RTX 2080 £320, a couple of 2080 Ti for £400 each and a brand new OEM blower cooled 2080 Ti for £235 (probably ripped out of a prebuilt).

So if Nvidia's claims turn out to be true then the used GPU market will be turned inside out. The knock effect will continue through to the lower tiers Nvidia or AMD. Also who's going to pay retail price of £200 for a new RX 5500 XT or GTX 1650 Super?
either 3070 Ti or 4xxx , need to upgrade my monitor first.

right now I'm using 1070 Ti , 1080p 60Hz.
