Overclocking GTX 1060 6gb
Hey

My Rig;

Intel i5 9600K
MSI GTX 1060 6GB
16GB DDR4 3000MHZ RAM
250GB SAMSUNG SSD
1TB HD
Liquid Cooling

Would I be able to safely OC my 1060? And if so what performance boost would I be able to get?

Thanks

Overclocking is safe, but don't expect a massive boost
Sure you can overclock it but at the end of the day it'll still be an overclocked 1060, if ppl want better ppl should buy better at the time.

At what time? I've had the 1060 6GB before the 1660ti came out so pipe down :steamhappy:
overclocking is very dangerous. when i overclocked my previous cpu whiwh was a core i5 2500k, almost the whole pc got destroyed... Days later psu burned and 4 months after that motherboard burned which forced me to upgrade to ryzen 7 1700. No iti is not worth it. Better wo wait until Nvidia and Intel next gen graphics cards and then decide which one to buy instead of buying any of the crap rtx 20 or overclocking gtx 1060.Perfomance improvenent is so low that it not worth the risk. I have gtx 970 g1 gaming and if i overclock i get only 3 fps more. Not worh it.

GTX 1070 was it's equivalent so wise up.

My GTX 1060 SC sits on a shelf so I can tell you from experience overclocking doesn't get get you anywhere significant.

The heck are you talking about? Judging by your story - using low quality PSUs is unsafe.

This thread is about overclocking GPUs, not CPUs, and a safe overclock will not kill your components, so you must have incorrectly set some settings, like using way too much voltage. That's your fault, not the fault of overclocking in general.

And you realize that Ryzen overclocks itself, right? That's literally what Precision Boost is.
