You don't need to change/configure anything in Windows. Windows is already configured in the best possible way to get you te best possible performance, checking a box somewhere is not going to magically give you more FPS.
To be fair this isn't about FPS and not every conversation is about FPS. Either the genre or the metric.
Windows is configured for the average user who probably doesnt use their computer for the same load that I do. I am not "checking a box for more pretty pictures" and if that's what you have gathered from my question then, unfortunately you're mistaken.
Getting more fps out of my game is a matter of changing my GPU clock speed which is easily managed by the Aorus Graphic engine that came with my GPU. It's very much a tick box exercise wihch does give more performance. It's called one click overclocking and has been standard for as long as my 3770 has been available.
Again, To be fair, if I wanted a machine where I was dealing with system defaults decided by others I would own an Xbox. Also, if it's not actually going to change the performance of my gaming, then there is no need to change what I have already changed and runs securely while managing all the tasks I ask of it.
Changing priority from foreground to background is not going to make my machine blow up.
Never said your machine will explode.
It's like this: Usually when someone starts playing around with stuff like application priorities they are probably messing around with a lot more settings, software etc.. to get this mystical free FPS. They will be installing crap software and will mess around with their OS and they will keep doing it until somethings breaks or they get infected with malware etc.. and then they will have no idea how to fix this. And then they will have to spend a lot of money or spend a lot of time to get their PC up and running again and to get the pictures of the hamster which died two weeks ago back and crap like that.
My little flame is simply warning you to not touch anything unless you are willing to deal with any issues that might appear due to this thinkering yourself.
And it's not worth it, all you are doing is wasting your time and risking the stability of your OS.
There's always one and today it's your turn, I see. Thanks then.
That Game DVR (while off topic) is terrible and only has a 30fps recording cap. Nvidia's shadowplay is far superior to it in every way and even that is scoffed at by some in the community, but at least it will record in 4k and at 60 FPS. Don't get me started on Ansel screenshots for the few games that support it. 360 shoots of the Watch_dogs San Fransisco!!!!!
I don't even have game mode switched on. It's kinda pointless. The only thing that could be of benefit there is the Xbox Game Anywhere cross platform stuff that I have been looking into. (Again, that is beyond the scope of this coversation.)
Telemetary off, cortina off. There's plenty that the defaut installation doesn't even need. Like, two media players while neither play Blu-Ray Discs!?!?!?!?! I am fine with the older Media Player which gets ignored.
Run ShutUp10 app and disable all the Win10 junk u do not like.
Reboot and Enjoy. Thats really ALL you need to do.
Done. And mostly done. I am not adding more programs. I have Purana utilities for stuff like that.
Cheers.
