NVIDIA Control Panel not opening
The error that keeps coming up is "NVIDIA Display settings are not available: You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU"
These are my specs: https://imgur.com/a/qtIOc
(I have a GTX 1060 3GB graphics card)

I've tried:
- Reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers as well as the integrated Intel drivers
- Updating those drivers
- Going to Services and restarting the NVIDIA Display Container

I also know that the cause of this may be that I've connected my monitor to the wrong port on my actual computer (it is an IBUYPOWER TRACE930 prebuilt)

I would really appreciate any help!

If you know that it may be because you have the monitor plugged into the wrong port, why have you not made sure that it is plugged into the correct port?

Your display should be connected directly to the GPU, not to the motherboard. When plugged into the motherboard, you use the igpu on the cpu.

I've checked it already but the hdmi cable of the monitor does not match the port of the one on the GPU

HDMI is mistaken sometimes for Display Port.

Of lately my gpus have been coming with 1 dvi, 1 hdmi and 2 display ports so double check what you're trying to jam it into.

Fixed it! You were right, I was confusing some other cable for an hdmi cable which I kept connecting to the VGA port on the motherboard.

Yes most GPUs today have 3x DP and 1x HDMI; so be sure to look at the physical connection; or simply view the piece of paper that came with the GPU that shows the physical layout of the ports on your dedicated GPU.
