Somewhere on the cable or inside the headphone there will be a sound chip and it's most likely not the best one out there since it's a $30 headphone, so that is probably also what is causing your sound quality to be not all that great.
Also the online reviews on this thing are terrible and it's been on the market since 2010..
Just like how Audio from GPU via HDMI/DP is a Codec onboard the GPU itself, not from your Sound Card / Motherboard Audio Codec+Driver
