Well I did get a trojan virus a few months ago and I deleted it but I guess it could have created smaller viruses that have entered my pc oh yeah and Mcaffe didnt find anything when I had a super obvious virus sooo theirs that

No worries. Just do the best you can on trying to remove the malware for now, in the meantime I need to contact two of the third-party analytics companies about their respective data breaches.

Also, do not do a clean reinstall. Trojans are usually programmed with a permanence feature that allows it to hide in your $SysReset folder in the event someone tries that method. After the clean install's finished, it reactivates and continues doing what it does.

The other reason I warned to not do a clean reinstall is because Microsoft's EULA limits you to three installs of the Windows copy that came with your computer, and a clean reinstall counts towards that limit. Both Microsoft and the manufacturers include a self-destruct program that will completely nuke your hard drive as an anti-piracy measure.

It doesn't matter if you aren't planning to do anything illegal, three installs are all you get.

Clean install windows is completely different process from system reset. There's nothing left if you clean install windows :steamfacepalm:

Never use the oem factory reset. Use a self made Win10 64bit usb flash drive, made with MS media creation tool. When you need a clean OS, boot from the Win10 usb and then delete each partition of Drive 0.

Make sure to click Cancel in Steam downloads, then right click the game (such as Ark) in Library and click Uninstall. The downloads folder in Steam is a cache folder, so if you just delete files there and don't uninstall the game in steam, of course steam would start redownloading the files at some point as a means of game update.
