Scorptec Ryzen RTX 2060 Gaming PC
Hey guys,

I'm new to the gaming PC realm and not exactly well versed on the in and outs of each specific component within a desktop PC. I am currently on the fence in regards to doubling down and getting a decent gaming desktop that can handle the latest and upcoming games while also being beneficial for my studies at uni. I have my eyes currently set on a Scorptec Ryzen RTX 2060 Gaming PC that is going for $1999 AUD.

WHAT I WANT IT TO DO: I want to be able to run current and upcoming games such as Doom Eternal, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk on high to ultra with a consistent and decent frame rate. In addition this I also require a system that will be able to handle frequent editing (Photography/Videography). I also wish for a system that is not overly noisy when running a game or having multiple programs open at once.

So for 1080p here are some RDR2 benchmarks -

https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/red_dead_redemption_2_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,6.html

As you can see, it requires a good gpu for high fps. The rtx2060 wouldn't cut it.

The rtx 2000 range has been replaced by the rtx3000 range. The rtx3080 is a little better than the 2080ti at 2080 price. The rtx 3070 performance is as yet unknown but should be 2080 ti level. That would be the gpu I would aim for. But the cost will be about $900 AU. All new parts are scarce at the moment, so getting one will be tough.

There will be an rtx3060 at some point in time. $600 AU. Maybe about rtx 2080 performance.

AMD is to release its own new range of gpus in a few weeks.

AMD is announcing a new cpu ramge on Monday US time. So there is no point buying until info about the new cpus is known.

A good cpu curently costs about $500 AU. Plus mobo, memory, case, drives, windows - another $1000 possibly.

So to meet your performance requirements you would need a budget of $2000-$2500 - when the new parts become available. Possibly more as parts in short supply means the price goes up.

Avoid. Both the 3600 and 2060 are end of life.

The first step is to specify what your display will be - resolution and hz rate.
RonnyBurgz 2020 年 10 月 1 日 下午 4:14
Hey,

Thanks for your quick reply, and for raising a good point i neglected to consider. I think for resolution i will be content with 1920X1080 with a 165Hz rate.

It`s medium range gaming PC that can handle those games on 1080p monitor but not good enough for 1440p, also new and better tech is coming out.
RonnyBurgz 2020 年 10 月 1 日 下午 4:39
Cheers for the feedback mate. So if i were to just settle for a 1080p monitor i would be able to run those games i mentioned on high without experiencing any technical issues?

R5 4600 and RTX 3060 will probably be available by Christmas, I'd hold it for those.

Awesome thanks for that! What would you rate the difficulty curve for someone like myself who has never built a PC before? I'm just worried i'll ♥♥♥♥ something up.

It's stressful but not very difficult. It looks like Scorptec does bespoke builds too.

The suggested PC in comment # 9 looks great to me. RTX 2060 Super is enough for 1080p near 100 fps in most games. Games like RDR2 / Horizon Dawn are exceptions. They need insanely high GPU for some reasons. You don't need to do everything ULTRA graphics anyway. Lower the settings to HIGH and you will get much higher fps, they looks almost identical anyway.

You can wait for RTX 3060, but it won't be coming until next year, the availability will also be limited at launch. So you might need to wait much longer.

B550 Aorus is okay, but i recommend B550 Tomahawk. It has the same VRM configuration as MSI 's top tier X570 board, best in the class.

10600K is 100 dollaroos less than the 3700X. If you want the highest framerate possible the 10600K is better, if you want to stream with a mocap vtube avatar or greenscreen yourself into the video and record the footage the 3700X would be better.

Would be just over 2k aud once the price of 3070 is factored in
