its a laptop so its probably trying to run on integrated which doesnt have NVIDIA PhysX instead of the NVIDIA GPU
Pre download the latest Notebook NVIDIA driver
Then download and Use DDU in safe mode to clean uninstall the drivers and PhysX (In DDU settings make sure PhysX is also selected to be uninstalled), When DDU asks to disable automatic driver installs accept it.
When installing the driver choose Driver Only, then Custom Install, only install the Driver and PhysX nothing else to avoid possible conflicts. Yes, that means dont install GFE.
After which, make sure the laptops power settings within Windows is set to High Performance when plugged in, then within the NVIDIA CP make sure the 2070 is set to be used.
Installing a previous old as hell version of PhysX will not fix it, the game not detecting your 2070 is whats causing it so thats what needs to be resolved.
Looked online for that version. I uninstalled my other version, installed 9.12 and restarted before trying to load the game. Sadly, it did not work. I still got the white screen and had to restart. Thank you for offering a solution :)
Tried that. Uninstalled current version, reinstalled from game folder, repaired from Control Panel (figured out how), and then restarted computer. Tried to load the game and got the white screen again and had to restart. Thank you for replying though :)
Okay, this one is going to be more trickier to try so it is going to take me a while to get through. I am using a laptop. I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers yesterday but I will look for notebook versions just in case they are different. I don't know what DDU, GPU, GFE, or CP stand for so I need to start there and figure those out so I can use the 'DDU in safe mode'. :D Thank you for replying! I will respond again when I have made some progress. :)
DDU is a program to uninstall drivers cleanly so you don't have bits still left behind after uninstalling.
GPU is your graphics card.
GFE is Geforce Experience (NVIDIA bloatware according to a lot of users).
CP is the Nvidia Control Panel.
You will need to type in the Run box (Press Windows Key + R) msconfig and then select the Boot tab, tick Safe Boot to tell Windows to go to safe mode and apply.
After rebooting run the DDU program to cleanly uninstall the Nvidia Drivers before running the Nvidia Driver exe to reinstall the drivers for your graphics.
You need to look for 2070 (Notebook) drivers for your particular instance.
physx software will either run on cpu or nvidia gpu but never on integrated graphics ;) afaik you can change/select which one to use in the physx control panel app.
Thank you very much for the detailed instructions and explanation! They were very easy to follow. I found the proper notebook drivers and the DDU program and booted in and out of safe mode to install and reinstall everything. Unfortunately, I am still having the same problem. I was so very hopeful that your suggestion would work. Silver lining is that I know a lot more about my laptop now! Thank you again for trying to help. I hope that this solution will help someone else if they are having the same problem. :)
I tried installing both the physx legacy driver and the latest version. While they will both show up in Programs in the Control Panel, for some reason the legacy drivers takes priority and the game will not detect the latest version so I get the error message telling me to update. I cannot figure out how to change the one to use in the nViida settings control panel. There does not seem to be an option and I cannot find a Physx control app. Very confusing. Thank you for the reply though. I appreciate it. :)
