Thinking about a gaming desktop
Hey there. I'm thinking about getting a gaming desktop at some point. I've looked around online and I've found 3 options that I like and I wanted to see if they were any good. I'm not good with computers when it comes to understanding what hardware is good and bad so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Anyway here are the computers I'm looking at. For context I like to game a lot and I do video editing and content creation but not at the same time. Which of these would be my best bet?
Looking at budget under 1,500 usd, DIY using amd parts where possible.

ok but if i wait I could get at a lower price and maybe upgrade something else right? Is the rx 5700 worth it for me with a 3700x?

yeah, it'd be a bit better.
Is there anything else I'd need?

edit. Which of these builds could I go with? Or should I stick with my specs?

It's graphics is terribly weak. Useless for gaming.

Early/Mid 2019 builds are not very up to date. Look for something more recent.

An RX 580 isn't useless for gaming, as it's basically the same as a 1650 SUPER and can still perform well with lowered settings, but ok.
I'm sorry your standards are so high.

Most people would be happy to even have a 1050.

My laptop has an rtx 2060 if I get an amd GPU that has equal or better performance, I'll be happy. So for me it comes down to either the rx5700 xt vs rx 5600 xt vs the rtx3070. What would be the best choice for my needs if video editing and gaming but separately? Like I never game and edit video at the same time. i'ts one or the other or watching YouTube.

3070 would be much better value. It'll be out in a few weeks.

RX 580 had best price/performance ratio some times ago. But this is an old story.
It has been released 3.5 years ago. Graphics performance has been growing rapidly lately and it makes no sense to buy outdated graphics now. You are trying hard to offer OP the rig that is completely inappropriate for modern games.

Never offered the 580 to him, but it isn't useless.

5600XT also isn't useless, considering it's about as good as the 2060, and both cards are very capable at 1080p. Is the value good now? Hell no, but that doesn't make it a bad card either.

Turing was a bad value but it still won. Ampere is going to kick ass because Radeon has nothing comparable until they release RDNA2. Once the 3060 is out, RDNA is completely toast.

With gpu's is it a bad idea to buy them at launch? How quickly do price cuts happen on new hardware? Wouldn't last gens card still be a compelling buy since those prices would go down with a new option on the market? How much can we expect the 3060 to cost? Any leaks?

Edit

I found a leak that said it would launch at 499 us. That seems really steep for a gpu.
What's somewhat under 300 that'll be good for me? I was previously looking at the rx 5700 xt & rx 5600 xt. Will either of them be good enough for me?

500 is cheap considering it's supposed to match the 2080 ti, which started at 1200.

RTX 3000's value is insane.

Ran the numbers and my total is now
1,225.65 bucks us. I would prefer a more budget gpu. Would either the
rx5700 xt br good options rx 5600? If not, what other choices do I have for an amd gpu good for 1080p gaming and video editing?

Every cheaper option is literally not going to be worth it when the 3070 comes out. The 3070 is at least 50% faster than the 5700 XT for only 100 dollars more.

Will prices go down on black Friday by a good margin? If so, I'll consider it.

Either way, buying a 5700XT over a 3070 now would be stupid. NVIDIA is trying and succeeding in putting AMD/Radeon into a trash compactor.

There is no reason to pay 400 for a 5700XT when for 100$ more you can get a card that is AT LEAST 50% faster across the board and has hardware accelerated raytracing. 500 for a 3070 is a steal.

So amd is bad value?
