New Monitor is Blurry
I got a Vizio 24" TV(d24-d1) but I set up as a monitor and it's more clear than my previous PC Monitor. However, when I play games it's unbearably laggy, it's like when you put a camera on rapid fire/shutter mode. It has about a .5-1 second delay and I've tried altering vysnc and matching the refresh rate of the TV. But everything I've tried just doesn't work. The specs on the monitor are basically the exact same as my old one, it just has a sharper image. Anyone know a workaround?

There are plenty of setup guides for Vizio D's on the web. They all seem to say turn off every enhancement including game mode.

Tried all of that, the motion blur and input lag has not changed, despite searching for hours.

It can't change

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/d-series-1080p-2016

Response time is 11.9ms (motion blur)
Input lag is 26.5ms

If you are used to PC monitor which are much faster, unfortunately you will find it blurry and not as responsive. For reference most monitor nowadays are around 5ms response time and 15ms in put lag, or lower.

That's a shame, it was a christmas present too. I guess i'll just set it up to be a second monitor for watching netflix while I wait for games lol

You can try disable Vsync and use FastSync, this should reduce input lag however will do nothing for Motion Blur.

In the nvidia control panel there are a few options to adjust the image (quality vs performance is one).

When Game Mode on that model is enabled...by default the Smooth Motion option is set to high...all a person has tro do is turn off Smooth Motion...and keep the preset at Game Mode.

Please take a long look on page 13, 14.

This is the "Motion Blur" the OP is experienceing:
https://www.cnet.com/news/what-is-the-soap-opera-effect/

If the OP turns it off....they will not have any perceived input lag. The only feature that needs to be truned on is the "Game Low Latency".

Tried the game low latency, still doesn't work.

Then the problem is on your end some how. What are your PC specs and what games are you trying to run?

Oh, and this article should interest you a bit. You have a long history of troll posts...so it is not making it easy to trust your judgement on the matter.

Yes yes we know, you don't perceive input lag because sorry to be blunt, you are used to a horrible TV from 2012 with 55ms input lag. Us, on the other hand, are so used to 15ms or lower input lag. We can't stand 55ms input lag, period. Game mode can not fix it, it's not magic. Look at Display Lag database, check the list, Ctrl + F 40L5200U.

OP, please ignore him. He claims many thread OP to be trolling. See, now he's posting the same Rtings review I posted. :steamfacepalm:

High response time WILL LEAD TO MOTION BLUR AND GHOSTING. A response time of <6ms is ideal for gaming.

Go to here
https://www.testufo.com/ghosting
And check motion blur and ghosting with a camera.

I guess my TV is "horrible" since I said it works just fine for me and doesn't live up to your own personal standards. And again...it is a troll poost Big Boom Boom. It didn't take long to lokk at the OP's post history. Also, telling people to ignore me the way you did..that is against Steam Discussion rules. Please refrain from doing that as it is inappropriate. I know what ghosting is...I am not as stupid as you say I am to other about me.

I used filters...much easier to fins it that way.

Of course the input lag is going to be bad at 120Hz....that is why GAME MODE reduces the refrsh rate to 60Hz and shuts off any kind of video smoothing process. When I refer to "Latency" I refer to the fact that all it takes for my TV to chage colors per pixle is 8ms. It is aterm used by the TV market..but you already knew that....so please leave me alone and stop badmouting the OP's and my equipment. Nobody percieves input lag at 55ms....it would be vilating the laws of physics if you could. The OP's TV has a color latency of 14ms...which is the cause of his ghosting problem. The "Frame smoothing " tech on his tv is the issue....and it causes ghosting.
