MSI GT62VR 6RD Dominator CPU Fan Not Spinning
MSI GT62VR 6RD Dominator Fan Not Working
« on: Yesterday at 01:38:21 »
Hello, I have had my computer for almost a year now but suddenly, the CPU fan stopped working. I tried the downloading a new EC and bios but that didn't work. Fan change options don't work either (I always have it on cooler boost but none of the modes turn the fan on). The computer ends up going to 200 degrees F (100+ degrees C) and shutting down due to overheating. I factory reset my PC and it worked for a while and then stopped working again after I turned it on the next day. I also tried pressing the battery reset button on the bottom left of the back of the computer and it still didn't work. How can I fix this problem without sending my computer in? The fans stay at 0 RPM no matter what I do.

"Almost a year" should fall under MSI's original warranty; contact MSI Tech Support and they should be able to diagnose and address the issue. I would have the Laptop connected online and be prepared to allow them to remote-connect to it with Windows running so they can actually look and see what the issue is.

If out of warranty, simply order a model-specific laptop fan and be prepared to open and replace the fan yourself.

Sounds like the fan motor blew out. Fans are a mechanical device, they have a motor and working parts, sometimes they fail.

I would call MSI and see if they can fix it under warranty. The fan will need to be physically replaced with a new one.

MSI GT62VR 6RD Dominator CPU Fan Not Spinning
Hello, my MSI GT62VR Fan stopped spinning and stayed at 0. I updated my EC, Bios, tried all fan settings, and did everything possible for my fans to start spinning again but nothing worked. Then, I took the back cover off and started spinning the fans with my finger and both fans started to work afterwards. How can I make my fans spin without having to "finger start" them? Or do I just need to replace both of them.

The fans start when I spin them with my finger, so is the problem with the computer or should I still go ahead and buy new fans?

finger start mean it non start until you turn it with your finger?
This usually indicates a controller's malfunction either on the fan itself or in the laptop

sometimes this happens when the oil in the fan boils overheating (when not using the right oil)

STOP using the Laptop and contact either the reseller vendor or MSI Tech Support.
