Safest Way to remove thermal paste

As my computer hits temps over 90c I've ordered a new cooler, the H55, when it arrives whats the best way to remove the old thermal paste. Alcohol and cloth?

use the cheapest paper towels you can find, they have long fibers that do not shred from the towel when wiping things off

good towels have more short fibers, better for soaking up liquids

For anyone wondering, I cleaned it with alcohol wipes, left it 24 hours to evaporate and then blew it with compressed air to remove any extra debris,

24 hours, wow. For the future, you really only to wait a minute or a few.

99% alcohol = wipe off and it evaporates almost instantly . no need to wait as it'll be dry before you have time to do anything else. Unless you poured it on

99% alcohol = wipe off and it evaporates almost instantly . no need to wait as it'll be dry before you have time to do anything else. Unless you poured it on

I mostly waited as I was busy, the wipes were pretty dry actually.

90-99% Alcohol and Coffee Filters.

High Alcohol percentage mean, less water and quicker evaporation. Coffee Filter because they are cheap and doesn't leave lint.

Even if you've got a pool of Isopropyl, it should only take a minute to dry, if you're wiping with a cloth, it's going to dry within a couple of seconds.

You could literally take a motherboard with a cpu attached, rub it on your ass, and achieve the same results.
