Unable to play games despite trying all Fixes...
So I bought a 'gaming' laptop expecting it to be turn key. To be specific an Asus GL553VD. Ive had it for over a year and never tried to play games on it. It was basically used as a Chromebook. I just recently attempted to play some games and they crash instantly through steam. This laptop never came with an SSD so I installed one. Hoping this would fix some of my issues and it did not, however the laptop does run faster and boots up in about 7 seconds. Next I did a full reformat along with a whole bunch of 'steam fixes' related to this issue.
I've uninstalled steam multiple times along with the games. I'm not trying to play games outside this laptops ability. I've called Asus and because this is out of warranty by a few months they are unwilling to help. This is my first Asus and i'll never buy another. I did a benchmark test on the video card and got a score of 265....using 'Heaven Benchmark 4.0'. There must be a hardware issue maybe with the graphics card? Basically at my wits end. This issue was probably there all along from factory and I'm only finding out now. Some specs on my specific laptop:

i7700
GeForce 1050 gtx
8gb ram
1tb hdd
500gb ssd

Please let me know what you guys think or maybe some tests I can do?

Install all drivers. For GPU, use DDU in safe mode and disable Windows ability to handle updates , then reinstall directly from Nvidia. Also, why'd you buy a gaming laptop for non gaming?

Make sure it's set to high performance, the Nvidia GPU is being used, and ensure it's plugged in.

Check temps with HW Monitor.

Also get another stick of RAM. 8 GB isn't enough for gaming, 16GB is needed.

The benchmark tests sound like it is probably using the onboard video rather than the dedicated gtx 1050 gpu

Ya about the benchmark, it said it was using the geforce gpu so not sure what to think. Maybe its toast. Ya ive heard 8gb is not enough so that will be my next upgrade. About the buying a gaming laptop not to game, I do game....I just didnt do it in that first year. Thanks for the help, I believe ive tried all of those but i'll try again.

plugin laptop to wall socket and play a game.

more likely than not, laptop on batteries conserve power by switching off dedicated gpu and uses built-in gpu.

cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here
