Low FPS with Ryzen 1700x + 1070!!!
Just installed Ryzen for the first time... I was expecting for higher gaming performance after upgrading from I7 6700k + RX480. But It's not like what I expected..

Far Cry 3 used to avg 65-71 FPS on Ultra settings. but now it's averaging 48-57 FPS and It often drop to 37 FPS on a *beep* 1070! (forget it)

Any Ideas how to fix this AMD processor issues? Or..... Maybe I go switch back to old motherboard and Intel CPU?

My current motherboard for Ryzen CPU is Aorus AX370 and my OS is Windows 10 64-bit.

Edit:

AC Origins benchmark. https://imgur.com/zYhEUIZ

Edit 2:

Apparently the lags only happens on Ubisoft games. There's no hiccups, slow down, or whatsoever on other titles. PUBG run 64-73 FPS average on ultra settings.

well the i7-6700K is in gaming stronger then the 1700X. The Ryzen only wins in multi core tasks. So as matter fo fact if you want to game this upgrade was stupid. It was a downgrade.

Also the GTX 1070 is only slightly stronger then a RX 480 8GB. which is a minor upgrade but wont do anything good in CPU ehavy games where you pretty much crippled your performance by taking the gamewise weaker CPU.

Just to be sure, do you have your monitor cable connected to the motherboard? or do you have them connected to your GPU?

Nothing personal in asking, as that has been a common occurance on these forums.

does not matter. Ryzen ahs no iGPU. If he connects to the motherboard he wouldnt have a pciture at all.

First things first. You should check your tempratures in game to see any kind of throttleing since 1700x does not come with a cooler the cooler you have put may have been improperly. Then install all the necessary drivers. Motherboard & Chipset.
Also do not forget to wipe all AMD display drivers.
You should actually put the 1070 on the skylake pc just to be sure that nothing is wrong with the GPU.
If you see huge gains there the performance difference can be pointed to your CPU.
And my personal view i wouldnt switch from an 6700K to 1700x as intel was always better in putting more frames.

Far Cry 3 runs like garbage on any system.

It might like AMD cards more then Nvidia ones.

The i7 would give you better gaming performance then the 1700x since it has a much better single core performance. And games like single core performance.

No idea why you did this sidegrade, you could have bought a 1080 or Vega 64 instead of a entire new system.. your old CPU is still one of the best gaming CPUs there is. And the GPU wasn't all that bad either.

(Insert flame about you know what here)

Well now I know. Thank you :-)

FarCry 2 and 3 use the same engine. If FarCry2 was set to D3D9 mode, it would run perfectly fine. If it ran in D3D10 mode, it would automatically choses the lowest possible refresh rate possible. Does that issue still apply for FarCry3?

i7 has 20% better singlecore speed, but in quadcore they are equal. In multicore the Ryzen whoops the i7 by 75%. Im pretty sure, FC 3 would use at least 4 cores so CPU-wise should be equal even in worst situation.
On other hand his 1070 should give quite a lot of extra performance so the issue is elsewhere.

Honestly...
You wasted money
an i7 6700k IS PERFECT
Your problem with that system was the GPU, Not the CPU
a GTX 1070 would have been a great match for it

Either way, i would not call that an upgrade.

With that said
Did you manually install the 1070's drivers or did you let Windows install them?

On a plus, farcry 5 is supposed to work great with lots of cores.
But you should be getting more FPS overall, what were your old CPU clocks like ?
Have you overclocked anything or changed screen Res ?

Any chance you could download and run the free version of 3dmark firestrike and link the results page to us ?

It's one of the fastest and easiest ways to see if there's a major conflict somewhere.

Install the AMD Chipset Ryzen Drivers
Set Windows Power Options set to High Performance
Set NVIDIA Control Panel to Prefer Max Performance

If you have the old motherboard and CPU, I'd swap it and see how well you fare with the GTX 1070 and the 6700k. Games are strange when it comes to hardware depending on the engine.

1. There was almost no reason for anyone to switch from i7 to Ryzen like that, unless they need it for productive work, or extreme multitasking.

2. The RX 480 to GTX 1070 is about 50% performance difference, the 1070 isn't close to the word "slightly" it is an upgrade.

The i7 6700k has better IPC, giving you better single core perfomance, over the Ryzen R7 1700x, the Ryzen R7 1700x would beat the i7 6700k for multitasking perfomance.

3. When you install your new GPU, always use DDU in windows safemode, to wipe the video drivers off the system, then install the GPU drivers, which I recommend downloading the latest, or older drivers that works best for you.

Nvidia
https://www.geforce.com/drivers

AMD
https://support.amd.com/en-us/download

4. When you switch motherboard, and CPU, I hope you done a complate clean Windows install, and not just swap motherboard, and CPU.

-edit-

5. Please get a hardware monitor software, then tell us how hot the CPU, and GPU has gotten while playing your games, under load. Also tell us the usage as well for CPU, GPU, and RAM, so we can know if there's an issue for that as well.

I would recommend using MSI afterburner with Rivatuner because you can stay in the game, seeing the stats, and all, which you can also take a screenshot ingame using the Steam overlay which you can upload it to Steam, then post it here, which we can see it, make sure to pick a color that isn't going to bend with the game background.

do some free benchmarks like unigine superposition and show us results I have similar system 1700 - gtx 1070

^Another good idea to make sure the system is in working order.
