Hard drive failed?
Okay so I bought this new PC about a year ago and upgraded it with a gtx 960+a new power supply and left the other stuff as it was. My PC started acting very very slow lately, I can barely get on my PC it just loads forever. I ran a diagnosis and everything passed but only one test didn't and it said 'Hard Drive Short DST check failed'. I'm guessing that means I have to replace my hard drive? I don't know which hard drive is the right size and the right one for my PC. I have a HP 550-047c i5 3.2 ghost desktop, the build is on google if you search it up. If anyone knows the right hard drive to buy that will fit my PC then please post it.

Wait so if I buy the new hard drive, won't I have to buy windows and all the other software cuz how would they install?
the windows key should be with your paperwork. if not i checked the hp support site to help and they came up with this... https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

from... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Windows-Product-Key/m-p/5557097/highlight/true#M123678

all other software that was already on there should have install discs that came with your computer.

and this is the link to the forum that can help with recovering anything else... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/bd-p/OSandSW

they seem to be on the ball when it comes to answering questions in a timely manner.

About to buy the hard drive, you sure this is caused by my failed hard drive and not by any of my other components in the PC? I only ran a diagnosis on the Hard drive and short dst failed.
I would suggest to just clone your currend drive to a new one. That way you will not need to reinstall anything or lose any files, it will be exactly the same, just working properly. Your old drive would not be changed either so it's perfectly safe too. Sure a proper reinstall of the OS is 'better' but that may be a lot of work (reinstalling ALL the programs and games is a nightmare). And you could still do it later. But cloning the drive would be faster to see if it solves the problem or not.

Nah I'm fine with reinstalling everything as I already reset my PC to default settings, I wouldn't mind re downloading the games.
