Hard drive failed?

Okay so I bought this new PC about a year ago and upgraded it with a gtx 960+a new power supply and left the other stuff as it was. My PC started acting very very slow lately, I can barely get on my PC it just loads forever. I ran a diagnosis and everything passed but only one test didn't and it said 'Hard Drive Short DST check failed'. I'm guessing that means I have to replace my hard drive? I don't know which hard drive is the right size and the right one for my PC. I have a HP 550-047c i5 3.2 ghost desktop, the build is on google if you search it up. If anyone knows the right hard drive to buy that will fit my PC then please post it.

sata 3 hdd, 3.5" form factor (desktop).

modern pc cases i know have about 4 slots for 3.5" hdds
more expensive pc cases may offer two or more slots for 2.5" hdd/ssd .

USA. I don't understand doe cuz this PC is only 1 yr old. And btw my case is pretty small and I believe it carries one hard drive.

hard drives fail. it just happens.

i checked your pc on the hp site and it holds 1 sata hdd. the one i linked will fit and work.

Hmm I was reading online and it was saying that hard drives should last 5-10 years but oh well. i had 2 drives fail after 6 months. its just the luck of the draw.

that would do just fine.

i would recommend a full format rather than a quick format to ensure all sectors are good.

What's difference between full and quick format? Is the one I linked full?

when you install your OS it will ask you if you want a full format or a quick format. choose full format. that checks for bad sectors.

that hard drive is really good! you should not have any problems.

Ight and is it okay if I use my PC still until I get my hard drive or will it damage my PC more?

nothing else will be damaged. it will just take a while to load from the drive.
it might even quit working on you before you get the new one.
if you can, leave your pc on so you do not have to wait for it to load every time.
