Quick Matching computer specs to game requirements.
I've looked at my computer system and i understand i have some running power but i don't know what i should be looking at exactly to make sure i wont crash my computer if i try to play a game that exceeds my system. Is there an option to see if a specific game will work on my computer or do i have to do extensive research to figure it out?

It's not really extensive research that's necessary

Once you know your specs it's a simple matter of comparing model numbers from higher to lower

With the GTX series, it's like 680 = 770 = 960 = 1050ti, see the pattern? There are some minor discrepancies but usually it's just the next most expensive model in the previous line, and so on.

You could also go to google and type in [Your GPU] vs [Required GPU] to find out if it's stronger.

not going to lie. im completely ignornd in this case. GTX.... are you refering to the videocard? i belive my prossor is an amd e2 but what that means i dont know. Is it possible to have all the ram in the world but still not be able to play certin games because of a poor videocard?

If your processor is too weak, it will prevent your graphics card from using all its power. If your graphics card is too weak... well, it's just too weak. RAM can also be an issue, if there is too little it will also hinder your performance.

First run CPU-Z to find out your specs and post the report here. Or if you have a specific PC model put that too.

You have an AMD Radeon HD 8280 as your GPU. That is not actually a discrete GPU but integrated graphics, your AMD APU is doing all the graphics lifting. Therefore your GPU is far, far weaker than the recommended spec. So is your CPU as well, I would gander. You seem to need a new PC if you ever hope to run that.

As for RAM you seem to have 4 gigs, which is also sub optimal for modern gaming. Again, your best bet is to get a new desktop or laptop.

It's not even remotely close to the minimum specs. The 550Ti is old and still runs lap around your integrated videochip without breaking a sweat.
CPU and videochip combined have a TDP of just 15 Watt.
Awfully inadequate for any game with more than basic requirements.
My laptop is acuall about 4 years old now. Couple more years untill its infireor to the modern laptops. despite this it seem to run path of exile pretty easily. Little lagg from somewhere on ocasion but i think thats more from the game trying to keep the players aligned.

path of exile minimum requirements

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows XP SP3/Vista/Windows 7/8
Processor: x86-compatible 1.4GHz or faster processor
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800 GT or ATI Radeon™ X1950 Pro or better
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 8 GB available space

it is an older game designed for windows 8 wich is what I have so i think thats the only reson why it runs smoothly.
The AMD E2 is one of the slowest CPUs on the market.

I'm amazed it runs anything more modern than DOOM (1993).
Me too.

Age has nothing to do with performance.
It just has parts that require little power and in return produce very little performance.

Path of Exile has very, very low requirements. A Singlecore CPU, those aren't manufactured for over ten years now!
A videocard from 11 years ago is the other requirement and you still experience framedrops? That just tells you how bad your laptop really is.
