EVGA ACX 3.0 Cooler issues
If you haven't heard, there is an issue with VRM cooling on all EVGA ACX 3.0 graphics cards. EVGA is taking steps to handle the problem and are honoring all warranties, but if you have a EVGA GTX 1070 or 1080 that has an ACX 3.0 cooler on it (ONLY the 3.0 version, the 2.0 version is fine), back off your overclocks until the issue is fixed.

It's not even just overclocking, it's just a really bad oversight by them, which all they had to do was put on thermal pads, some people already reported this happen to them on Reddit, and they said they didn't even overclock.

People with Micron memory, have to do an BIOS update to fix the Vram issue, and what it does it turn up the volts for the Vram, but they also have to boost the RPM on the fans to fix the overheating, thanks to the oversight on EVGA part.

You will see the EVGA FTW image, it's cover with a front plate, which was a dumb idea, not to have pads for the Vram, because not only that was dumb of them, the heat couldn't cool properly because of the front plate wasn't dispensing the heat effectively, which cause the heat to continue to build-up under the front plate. If you look at the others, all the Vram are cover with thermal pads, or heatsink cooler for them like MSI.

Yea, I have both the 1070 acx and 1080 acx. I'm going to RMA them one at a time. I can do all the updates and pads myself but I believe that shouldn't be my burden.

The Micron memory controller issue and the EVGA missing thermal pad issue, are two separate issues.

The Micron memory controller issue affected all 1070s that had Micron memory.

The EVGA missing thermal pads affected only EVGA ACX 3.0 coolers on 1070 and 1080 cards.

If one had an EVGA ACX 3.0 1070 that had Micron memory, then it was a double wammy.
I thought the thermal issue only had to do with the 1080s?

It's any gpu equipped with the ACX 3.0 cooler, which is the 1070 as well.
