Does the system boot into windows with the old ram?

Motherboard Ram specs.

4 DIMM memory slots (supports up to 2GB memory by DDR/DDR2)
Supports 1.8V/1.5V DDR DIMM
2 DIMM supports DDR2 533/400 MHz DIMM
2 DIMM supports DDR400/333/266 MHz

KINGSTON Kvr800d2n6/2g: <--- 800MHz

I have readed any Forum
If you put 800mhz on 533mhz Motherboard it will downclock
Dr.Shadowds 🐉 Nov 2, 2016 @ 7:07pm
I believe your motherboard, is not detecting it at all, due to not being able to support that high of the MHz, and most likely not down clocking it to allow it to work.

What happens is that if the motherboard can't support a high number MHz, it will try to auto downclock the RAM, but very old motherboards don't have this option, so it won't detect it, or can't support it.

I check a little more, to see if it does have the option to auto clock your ram.

-edit-

So I check up on your board, it does work, which does downclock the RAM, I believe that stick could be defective, do you have a spare motherboard that use DD2 to test if it just the stick itself that defective?

I just think the Ram might be defective, the other possibility is the DDR2 slot for it might be defective, or even both, only way to tell is by having a spare DDR2 Ram. to confirm it.

TBH, I would really recommend just saving up for a new whole new PC, as that stuff is really outdated. I can see this being a great office, media, web games use, than gaming.

-edit-

If you do get new DDR2 ram, get the ones that are 533MHz.

I'm very sorry I couldn't help solve your problem, but I hope it was just the stick that was defective and nothing else, or that would really be a shame not being able to bump up the memory.

You need to utilize it via 2x 1GB

You're right, I check up once more, and it does read a few models of DDR2 2GB sticks, but there is a problem, it will only use half of the memory from that stick, as each slot only allow 1GB of memory.

This one is where someone using a single 2GB DDR2.

This one is pretty much confirm the whole slot problem, by everyone recommending 1GB per slot.

Yea I would just return it and get 2x 1GB like Crucial or Corsair.
And of course, you can only use either DDR1 or DDR2 installed; not both at the same time.
But yea do 2x 1GB, install them, reset the CMOS and then boot and enter the BIOS.

I already return it and now i need to find 2×1GB RAM
